Suzanne was quite anxious about her interview. She had been preparing for it for at least three weeks prior. She really desired the job but knew that many others were also interested. When she called the number listed in the ad, she was informed of the high number of applicants, so she got herself ready. She wrote notes on possible questions and her own inquiries.
On the day of the interview, she arrived thirty minutes early. Six other candidates were already there, waiting. They all appeared much more self-assured than Suzanne, making her feel even more anxious. One by one, they were called in, and each one exited looking pleased. Suzanne was the final person called into the room. By then, she had resigned herself to not getting the job, so she felt at ease as she entered, thinking she had nothing to lose.
The three interviewers were all very stern and seemed uninterested. She blanked on all the answers she had rehearsed and blurted out the first thoughts that came to her. Two days later, she received a letter stating she was selected because she had been the only one who acted naturally.
