Cấu trúc Advise – Cách dùng và bài tập chi tiết

1. Cấu trúc Advise là gì?

Trong tiếng Anh, “advise” (động từ) có nghĩa là “khuyên nhủ”. Cấu trúc Advise được sử dụng khi muốn đưa ra lời khuyên cho ai đó, hoặc có thể dùng để truyền đạt lời khuyên cho một người khác.

2. Các cấu trúc advise phổ biến và cách sử dụng

2.1. Để khuyên nhủ

Đi cùng tân ngữ

Ví dụ:

• We strongly advise you to rid yourself of the bad habit of smoking. (Chúng tôi khuyên bạn nên bỏ thói quen xấu hút thuốc lá.)
• I’d advise you not to tell him. (Tôi khuyên bạn không nên nói với anh ta.)

Để khuyên nhủ ai không nên làm gì, ta còn có cấu trúc sau

Ví dụ: Luật sư của chúng tôi khuyên chúng tôi không nên mua căn nhà đó.

Đi cùng mệnh đề

Ví dụ:

• Xavier’s brother advises that he should go to Oxford University. (Anh trai của Xavier khuyên rằng cậu ấy nên vào đại học Oxford.)
• The doctor would strongly advise that my father should not smoke. (Bác sĩ thật lòng khuyên bố tôi không nên hút thuốc lá.)

Khi phía sau động từ “advise” không có tân ngữ (Object)

Ví dụ:

• I’d advise buying your tickets well in advance if you want to travel in August. (Tôi khuyên bạn nên mua vé trước nếu bạn muốn đi du lịch vào tháng 8.)
• Some doctors advise setting aside a certain hour each day for exercising. (Một số bác sĩ khuyên nên dành ra một giờ nhất định mỗi ngày để tập thể dục.)

Khi đi cùng ON hoặc ABOUT

Ví dụ:

• My lawyer advised me on/about how to handle my mother’s estate. (Luật sư tư vấn giúp tôi về cách xử lý di sản của mẹ tôi.)
• Would you please advise me on/about what kind of computer to buy? (Bạn vui lòng tư vấn cho tôi về loại máy tính để mua?)

2.2. Để đưa ra thông báo

Ví dụ: Please inform me when the goods have been dispatched. (Làm ơn thông báo cho tôi khi hàng hóa đã được gửi.)

3. Phân biệt Advise và Advice

Trong khi sử dụng, hãy nhớ không nhầm lẫn “advise” (động từ) và “advice” (danh từ) nhé! Hãy lưu ý một số điều sau:

• “Advise” là ngoại động từ còn “advice” là danh từ không đếm được, vì thế ta thường nói “a piece of advice” hoặc “some advice”, “a lot of advice”, etc.
• Cấu trúc Advice thường gặp là S + give + O + advice

Ví dụ:

His first piece of advice was that I tell no one. (Lời khuyên đầu tiên của anh ấy là tôi đừng nói cho ai biết.)

= He advised me not to tell anyone. (Anh ấy khuyên tôi đừng nói cho ai biết.)

4. Một số cách viết lại câu sử dụng cấu trúc Advise  

• If I were you, S + V
• You should (not) + V
• Let’s + V
• Why don’t we + V?
• What/How about + Ving…?
• S + had better (not) + V

→ S + advise + someone + (not) + to V + something

Ví dụ:

Nếu tôi là bạn, tôi sẽ không làm thế.

→ Tôi đã khuyên bạn không nên làm thế.
