1. Định nghĩa của cấu trúc Both and là gì?
Cấu trúc Both and thường được sử dụng với ý nghĩa là “vừa…vừa” hay “vừa… lẫn”. Trong cuộc sống, người ta sẽ dùng cấu trúc Both and khi muốn nhắc tới cả hai đối tượng và nhấn mạnh ý nghĩa của cả hai đối tượng đó.
Ví dụ minh họa:
- Linda is good at both Maths and English.
(Linda giỏi cả Toán và Tiếng Anh.) - Dat has bought both toys and books.
(Đạt đã mua cả đồ chơi và sách.)
Mặt khác, Both có thể đứng một mình và thường được kết hợp với đại từ hay danh từ số nhiều để thể hiện ý nghĩa “đều", “cả hai".
Ví dụ cụ thể:
- John and Mike both like to play football.
(Cả John và Mike đều thích chơi bóng đá.)
- My brothers both love pizzas.
(Cả hai anh trai của tôi đều thích ăn pizza.)
Lưu ý: Both and thường đứng ở đầu câu, nhưng cũng có thể xuất hiện phía sau động từ chính của câu đó.

1.1. Cấu trúc Both and
Công thức 1:
Both + N1 (danh từ 1) hoặc NP1 (cụm danh từ 1) + And + N2 (danh từ 2) hoặc NP2 (cụm danh từ 2) + V…: cả cái gì lẫn cái gì
Ví dụ:
- Both hamburgers and fries are my sister’s favourite dishes.
(Cả hem-bơ-gơ và khoai tây chiên đều là thức ăn yêu thích của em gái tôi.) - Both Arthur and Tommy are players in the school basketball club.
(Cả Arthur và Tommy đều là cầu thủ của đội bóng rổ trường học.)
Công thức 2:
S + V/Be + Both + N1 (danh từ 1) hoặc Adj1 (tính từ 1) + And + N2 (danh từ 2) hoặc Adj2 (tính từ 2): cả cái gì lẫn cái gì

Lưu ý: Có thể bỏ of
