“When considering a place full of colors, I immediately envision the vibrant mural paintings along Phung Hung Mural Lane. This project is a collaboration between the Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee, the KOREA Foundation, and The United Nations in Vietnam, aimed at recreating photos of Hanoi's past, particularly in the post-colonial era.
I believe the murals have met people’s expectations. These nostalgic paintings of the bygone era against a modern backdrop create a compelling juxtaposition. This spot is not only perfect for young people to take photos or selfies but also holds sentimental value for older generations who experienced that era firsthand. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to relive their youth, reminiscing about their lives in those old houses and traveling by tram. This place appeals to people of all ages.
Moreover, the vividness of this location is not just depicted through the murals but also by the hanging lanterns and botanical plants lining the street. During Tet holidays, the atmosphere is infused with vibrant colors from flowers, adding to its charm. Even the lanterns, which may seem muted during the day, come alive beautifully at night, creating a picturesque setting perfect for photography.
It’s a place that is particularly welcoming to children. It will undoubtedly create lasting childhood memories for them, memories they will cherish for years to come.
