1. What outdoor activities are popular in Vietnam?2. Are those people who like dangerous activities more likely to be successful?3. Do you think it’s better for people to change jobs when there are new chances?4. Should young people try as many new activities as possible?
1. What are popular outdoor activities in Vietnam?
Example 1: It’s fair to say that Vietnamese have a preference for outdoor team sports such as football, volleyball, and basketball among others. Most of these activities are highly accessible, requiring minimal equipment and investment so everyone can enjoy them regardless of their financial status, hence their widespread popularity. Take football, for instance, all you need is a ball along with a few makeshift items to set up the goal posts.
- have a thing for: dành điều gì cho
- to name but a few: lấy ví dụ
- accessible: có thể truy cập
- minimum gear and investment: thiết bị và đầu tư tối thiểu
Example 2: Well, from my perspective, there are various activities in Vietnam, but football stands out as the most popular one. The reason behind this is that it’s considered ‘the king of sports’ in many countries, including Vietnam! Apart from being enjoyable, the benefits of this sport also include reducing the risk of certain chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, Vietnamese people likely enjoy outdoor concerts as they can have a great time with their friends.
- reduce risk of certain chronic illnesses: giảm nguy cơ mắc những bệnh mãn tính
- have a blast: tận hưởng thời gian vui vẻ
2. Are individuals who enjoy risky activities more likely to succeed?
Example 1: Possibly. These are adventurous and bold individuals and in life, sometimes taking risks is necessary for greater success. I find that individuals who are inclined to take risks tend to see quicker career advancements and higher salaries as they’re willing to take on challenging yet rewarding roles that risk-averse individuals tend to avoid.
- adventurous and daring: mạo hiểm và táo bạo
- have an appetite for: thích chấp nhận
- high-rewarding jobs: công việc lương cao
- risk-averse: ngại rủi ro
Example 2: This may be true to some extent. The rationale is that risk-taking has fortified their determination to persevere regardless of obstacles. Also, risk-takers understand that success doesn’t come easily. They know that unless they put in extra effort to achieve their goals, they won’t succeed. However, it’s wise to consider the level of risk for personal safety.
- strengthen their will: trau dồi ý chí
- fall in their lap: tự dưng đạt được không cần cố gắng
- go out of their way: cố gắng hết sức
3. Do you believe it’s advantageous for individuals to switch jobs when new opportunities arise?
Example 1: It largely depends on their career stage. For those in the early stages, it can be highly beneficial as they may wish to explore different professions, gain diverse skills, and expand their professional network.
If someone is in the later stages of their career, however, changing jobs or careers may not be worthwhile. The risks are significant as they could jeopardize their retirement savings or fail to support their family if things don’t go as planned.
- life savings: tiền tiết kiệm
Example 2: I believe frequent job changes aren’t advisable. However, if you feel undervalued, it may be wise to seek a workplace where hard-working employees are appreciated. Additionally, being underpaid could justify seeking new opportunities, especially as one’s lifestyle changes.
- recognition for hard-working employees: sự công nhận dành cho nhân viên chăm chỉ
- being underpaid: bị trả lương quá thấp
4. Should young people experiment with as many new activities as possible?
Example 1: Absolutely, they should, especially when engaging in activities that challenge them mentally and emotionally. This helps them accumulate a wealth of memories and experiences, and expand their horizons to better prepare for adversities in the future. Life lacks excitement without changes and challenges.
- stretch them mentally and emotionally: khiến họ căng thẳng về tinh thần và cảm xúc
- a wealth of: vô số
- broaden their horizons: mở rộng tầm nhìn
Example 2: It varies based on the activity. On one hand, it can be beneficial for young people to explore new jobs or sports to broaden their horizons, refine their skills, or discover passions in life. On the other hand, engaging in illegal activities such as using narcotic substances is something inadvisable.
- expand their horizon: mở rộng tầm hiểu biết
- narcotic substance: chất cấm
- inadvisable: không nên làm
