“Vietnam is abundant in beautiful, distinctive trees, and what I’m going to discuss today is the cherry blossom tree.

As you can see, Tet is approaching, and preparations are in full swing, which means cherry blossoms are widespread. When it comes to the quintessential plant, it’s the cherry blossom, unquestionably the best. It holds the highest position.

The common English translation for ‘Cay Dao’ is cherry blossom, although the variety found in Vietnam is actually more similar to peach blossom. Cherry blossoms, however, are more prevalent in Japan. The major difference between cherry blossom and peach blossom in Vietnam is that our peach blossoms tend to be smaller in size. Another notable difference is that the range of shades for peach blossoms in Vietnam is much more diverse compared to Sakura in Japan.

In Vietnam, we have peach blossoms that range from light pink to rosier shades. On the other hand, Japan's Sakura blossoms are typically very pale in color, with some even being pure white. Regardless of scientific or botanical accuracy, one thing is certain: all cherry blossom trees are undeniably stunning.

Apart from the flowers, another critical aspect examined closely by experienced cherry blossom buyers are the buds. Those with numerous buds can fetch a high price, especially given the increasingly hot weather that has caused cherry blossoms to bloom early. The abundance of buds guarantees that the owner will enjoy their purchase.

Deep into the holiday season, the blooming of the cherry blossom tree, or more precisely the peach blossom tree, aligns with the early days of spring. Thus, symbolically, the tree signifies new beginnings, something exhilarating. If you aim to brighten up your living room or home this upcoming holiday season, opting for a cherry blossom tree is the perfect choice.

The Criteria for Achieving a Band 9 in IELTS Speaking

As you may already know, the IELTS Speaking test is assessed based on four criteria: Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, and Pronunciation.

If you aspire to reach higher bands in the IELTS scores, such as 7.5, 8, 8.5, and 9, you need to focus on the precision and accuracy in utilizing vocabulary related to the topic. Specifically:

1. Sử dụng từ ngữ mô tả chi tiết. Thay vì sử dụng từ vựng phổ thông, bạn hãy tập trung mô tả sự vật, sự việc bằng những từ ngữ có độ chi tiết nhất định.

Ví dụ như từ “botanical correctness” sẽ phù hợp hơn khi mô tả về cây cối thay cho từ “biological correctness” (sự chính xác về mặt sinh học).

2. Tính linh hoạt trong cách diễn đạt. Điểm IELTS cao không chỉ yêu cầu bạn thành thạo ngôn ngữ, mà còn cần tính linh hoạt và chính xác trong sử dụng từ vựng. Ngoài ra, kỹ năng paraphrase cũng cần được áp dụng một cách tinh tế.

3. Sử dụng thành ngữ và idiom chính xác.

Các thành ngữ như “in no short supply” hay “the way to go” là những từ ngữ “ăn điểm”. Chúng là những cụm từ mà không quá dài, biểu hiện tốt ý nghĩa, tóm gọn những cảm xúc mà không phải dài dòng.

Tuy nhiên, bạn cũng cần hiểu rằng cách sử dụng idiom trong IELTS Speaking đúng cách là rất quan trọng. Nếu không sử dụng phù hợp với ngữ cảnh, chúng sẽ khiến câu trả lời của bạn thiếu tự nhiên.
