When it comes to laptops for gamers, MSI is a brand that cannot be overlooked. The MSI Bravo 15 B5DD-276VN gaming laptop was released by MSI in 2020. This gaming laptop series is equipped with leading AMD hardware. In the market segment with a price tag of 15 million Vietnamese dong, this model stands out as one of the most powerful machines, attracting significant attention.
Powerful, Gaming-Infused Design
At first glance, the design of the Bravo 15 laptop may not seem particularly outstanding. However, upon closer inspection, one can appreciate its strong, gaming-infused aesthetic. Typically, gaming laptops tend to be thick, large, and heavy. However, the Bravo 15 is slim and lightweight, measuring about 21.7 mm thick and weighing 1.96 kg. Coupled with a large battery, this design is incredibly impressive.
The machine's chassis is made of durable brushed aluminum, providing a premium, reflective finish. Although the hinge has been improved in quality, it still lacks sufficient rigidity. During gaming sessions, there is still noticeable shaking and wobbling.
Main connectivity ports such as LAN RJ-45, HDMI, USB Type A, and Audio are situated on the right side of the laptop. The left side is simpler with only 1 power port and 2 additional USB Type A ports. At the back, there are 2 large ventilation holes to cool the components inside the machine.
Average-quality display
The MSI Bravo 15 B5DD's screen measures 15.6 inches with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and an IPS LCD panel. The screen's refresh rate is 144Hz, with anti-glare properties to prevent blurring during motion and reduce eye strain. However, the screen's refresh rate is relatively low for a gaming laptop, at only about 60Hz.
Color coverage is only average at 64% of the sRGB color gamut. Maximum brightness is also only average at 285 nits.
Disappointing keyboard
The laptop's keyboard is a full-size layout with a separate numeric keypad. However, it only features single-color red LED backlighting. This is a significant drawback compared to other laptops in the same price range, which typically offer RGB lighting.
Shallow key travel, approximately 1.7mm. This is understandable given its slim design, yet it causes discomfort for users. Users also express dissatisfaction due to uncomfortable heat around the WASD keys during use. Additionally, the cluster of 4 directional keys is quite small, making accidental presses common during gaming sessions.
Furthermore, the laptop's touchpad is small. Perhaps because it's a gaming laptop, this area isn't emphasized. However, for regular use, it still suffices.
Stable performance with H-series chipset and dedicated GPU
As mentioned, the MSI Gaming Bravo 15 B5DD boasts powerful specs to meet users' gaming needs. For basic tasks like word processing and web browsing, the machine performs admirably.
The machine utilizes an AMD Ryzen 7-5800H processor with 6 cores and 12 threads, capable of reaching speeds up to 4.2GHz. You can play games like GTA V, The Witcher 3, League of Legends, CS:GO, PUBG, and handle tasks like Photoshop, rendering, and stable 3D image and video editing.
In terms of performance, the Bravo 15 doesn't show much difference compared to other laptops in a similar price range.
Equipped with 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM and a 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD, this laptop handles multitasking smoothly. It boots up and launches games quickly, in just a few seconds.
While the laptop's battery isn't extraordinary, it still allows users to work and study for many hours. However, for uninterrupted gaming, it's advisable to plug the machine directly into a power source.
This gaming laptop offers fairly stable performance for tackling basic games or serving work and study needs. Overall, the MSI Bravo 15 B5DD-276VN gaming laptop is a good device. However, for those with high demands, its drawbacks may be hard to accept. Consider carefully before making your purchase!
