If you're planning a trip to Bangkok and using the BTS Skytrain card, be aware of the recent policy changes! Starting from 15/02/2019, individuals purchasing the BTS Skytrain Rabbit card or reloading it must register at ticket offices.
This new policy is likely to result in longer queues at BTS stations. However, there are ways to avoid this situation, such as pre-purchasing the Rabbit card through Klook and collecting it at Siam Center or Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK).
To prevent unnecessary delays, here's all the information about the new procedures you need to know!

Currently, anyone purchasing or reloading the Rabbit Card must provide identification. Regular commuters (monthly pass holders) are exempt from this requirement.
Who is Affected?

Both tourists and local residents must register. Local residents need to present their ID, email address, and contact number, while foreign tourists only need to provide their passport.
Does the 1-Day BTS Skytrain Pass get affected?

You won't need to register when purchasing a 1-day BTS pass at the ticket counter. However, be prepared for long queues due to the implementation of the new process.
To avoid queues when buying a 1-day BTS Skytrain pass, consider purchasing it from Klook Bangkok Sky Train (BTS) 1-Day Pass, conveniently collect it at Siam Center or Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) upon landing.
This pass allows unlimited travel on all BTS Skytrain routes for one day. Moreover, if you change your plans and don't use the card on the selected day, don't worry as the card is valid until 31/10/2019. This means you can choose the most effective day to use the card!
P/S: No registration is required for the 1-Day BTS Skytrain pass.
