Strengths of Caitlyn True Damage
As you may already know, the True Damage tribe has an inherent damage conversion ability. For champions outside this tribe but equipped with the True Damage emblem, the Burst of Blazing will convert into an additional 10% standard damage. We choose Caitlyn because she has the highest damage output among the 4 and 5-cost champions, firing up to 4 bullets at a time instead of one by one like Ahri or Karthus. Caitlyn's weakness is that her bullets can be blocked by tanks, but with the True Damage effect dealing standard damage of over 50%, there's nothing that can survive it.
Caitlyn's items, aside from the emblem, will be Infinity Edge and Giant Slayer. The second carry in this lineup is True Damage Akali equipped with Fist of Justice and Bloodthirster. Later on, we'll add Qiyana with a clever item build. The tank will be Ekko, utilizing the sacred combination of Blood Plate and Resolute Heart. Since True Damage champions already have standard damage, their items are quite flexible and not fixed.
Essential items to pick up: Burst of Blazing, Vampire Cloak, Supercharge, Mighty Sword, Toxicologist, Weird Wood, Guarantee Stone...
Gameplay and Team Composition
Similar to many other powerful strategies, you can't force this build because you need a Golden Shovel to install the True Damage emblem. There are several ways to develop it into the late game. First, you can play normally by accumulating 8-bit points as usual, hoping that monsters will drop the Shovel. Otherwise, accept a losing streak from the beginning, hoping to pick up the Shovel in the carousel round.
Regardless of the approach, start by choosing Superstar Corki and play in the traditional 8-bit style to maintain points. If on a losing streak, do not level up and save money. Remember to grab 1-cost True Damage champions like Yasuo or Kennen in the bench to avoid not finding them later.
Reach level 6 at 3-2. From here, there are two development directions depending on whether you have the Golden Shovel or not.
- If you already have or can equip the True Damage emblem, consider selling your current Superstar to roll a bit. The goal is to find a carry using the True Damage emblem, ideally someone who can synergize with Senna like Aphelios. If you're still playing Corki, Miss Fortune or Kaisa are excellent choices.
- If you still don't have the Golden Shovel even after a losing streak, it's best to switch strategies, combine items, and play either the 8-bit or Shadow Isles direction later on, hoping for luck in the Wolf round.
An important note is if your Superstar champions like Senna or Ekko have True Damage effects, you can switch to playing the Senna reroll build; otherwise, keep them to hit the 6 True Damage milestone.
Reach level 8 at 4-2 and start rolling for Superstars. Ideally, go for Caitlyn to activate the 8-bit synergy, but you can also go for Akali with the True Damage effect or Ekko with True Damage / Infiltrator synergy.
Roll and swap champions until you complete the 4 or 6 True Damage composition, then stop rolling. Equip items on your carries and start enjoying the power. This strategy focuses on the 6 True Damage milestone, but if you don't have Qiyana, you can drop down to 4 and add some Protector champions.
After reaching level 9, start rerolling for Qiyana to enhance her equipment. This build, once hitting the 6 True Damage milestone with Caitlyn, becomes unparalleled. The standard damage penetrates all defenses and healing. It's not by chance that possessing the True Damage emblem increases win rates by an additional 25%.
This strategy is still not widely known, so few people know how to use or counter it. Mytour readers, take advantage of it now.
