Important Note:
- Supported only on phones with FaceID facial recognition or TouchID fingerprint unlock.
- Requires updating Messenger to the latest version.
Step 1: Open the Messenger app, select Options (1), and then choose Settings (2).
Step 2: Next, choose Privacy & Safety and select App Lock to set up password/FaceID unlock for Messenger.
Step 3: For devices supporting FaceID, simply activate the FaceID feature to enable face unlock on Messenger. During the initial setup, Messenger will prompt to use FaceID for unlocking, select OK to complete.
Currently, some devices without FaceID can still set up a password for Messenger using a passcode.
Step 4: Finally, set the lock time for the Messenger app after not using it. Typically, people choose 1 minute after leaving as this timeframe is sufficient to resume messaging in ongoing conversations.
