Viktor Axelsen, born on January 4, 1994, is a Danish badminton player. He clinched his first European championship title in May 2016 by defeating compatriot and defending champion Jan Ø. Jørgensen with scores of 21-11, 21-16 in the final match. He became the world junior champion in 2010, defeating Kang Ji-wook of South Korea in the final to become the first European to win this title. In 2011, he lost the junior world champion title to Zulfadli Zulkiffli of Malaysia. At the BWF World Championships held in Glasgow, Scotland, he became the world champion by defeating Lin Dan in two sets.
Leaving his family and friends at the age of 17, Viktor Axelsen moved to Odense to live and train with the ambition of becoming the best male badminton player in singles. Notably, he clinched the national championship for under-12s by defeating Lee Zii Jia in the final in 2009, showcasing his innate talent.
Subsequently, receiving a scholarship from the Singapore Sports School, Loh Kean Yew and his third elder brother relocated to Singapore in 2010. After years of diligent training, he became a Singaporean citizen in 2015 and represented the nation as a badminton player in various international tournaments, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Remarkably, within the national badminton team of Singapore, Loh Kean Yew has two other brothers also working.
