2. Structure of a Balanced Opinion Essay
Similar to other essay types, Balanced Opinion essays follow a basic essay structure: Introduction – Body – Conclusion.

Trong câu thesis statement, các bạn nên thể hiện ý kiến cá nhân của mình trong vấn đề và đồng thời nhắc đến ý kiến trái chiều. Để dễ hơn, các bạn nên chọn cách approach vấn đề theo tỉ lệ 70-30 (70% agree; 30% disagree).

Thesis statement: From my perspective / As I see it / It is my belief that, although arguments exist for banning violent sports due to their significant risks for participants, these sports offer entertainment value, generate substantial revenue, and are rigorously regulated to ensure athlete safety.
- Các bạn nên nhớ là thesis statement là phần quan trọng nhất của phần intro. Do statement này sẽ được các bạn develop và support xuyên suốt bài. Vì vậy thesis statement của các bạn nên là một summary của argument của các bạn.
- Trong phần Body, nên có 2 đoạn. Đoạn đầu tiên sẽ nói về luận điểm của các bạn và đoạn thứ 2 sẽ nói về luận điểm trái chiều. Cấu trúc cơ bản của một đoạn body là Topic sentence – Supporting idea 1 + Examples – Supporting idea 2 + Examples – Supporting idea 3 + Example – Concluding sentence. Cấu trúc này sẽ được lặp lại ở đoạn body thứ 2. Ở đoạn body 2, nếu các bạn muốn nhấn mạnh quan điểm của mình. Các bạn có thể phản biện quan điểm trái chiều bằng những cấu trúc conjunctive.
Example: Despite / Even with / While their undeniable danger, the entertainment and revenue potential of these sports cannot be overlooked. Moreover, modern extreme sports are tightly controlled and highly regulated. Therefore, banning them would not be justified.
- Trong phần conclusion, các bạn nên paraphrase lại argument của mình. Sau đó, kết thúc bài bằng cách lập lại quan điểm của mình về vấn đề.
