The ultimate eraser, Radar S-10000 from Japan, weighing over 2.2 kg and larger than 2 hands combined, priced at 2 million, poised to claim the record for the world's largest eraser at the current time.
Seed, a Japanese company specializing in eraser production, was established in 1915. Today, it stands as one of the oldest brands in this business sector in the Land of the Rising Sun. The company's flagship product is Radar, first introduced in 1968, quickly becoming a beloved eraser product in the stationery market.
Radar wins users over with its soft texture and smooth, clean erasing. Thanks to its high quality, this product line has been commercially successful, despite its average price ranging from 20 to 50 yen, double or even five times the price of a regular eraser. Most recently, Seed decided to make its mark on its Radar eraser line by diversifying the size and shape of erasers. Most notably, the company introduced a giant eraser weighing approximately 2.2 kg, priced at 13,200 yen (about over 2 million VND).
The Radar S-1000 is the largest eraser in the Radar product line, and undoubtedly the largest in the world today. This special eraser weighs over 2kg, 200 times heavier than the regular Radar S-60 eraser. However, the company asserts that both products share the same materials and quality.
So why did the company produce such a massive eraser? Many have questioned this as it's certainly not a product in high demand or extensive use. According to sources from Seed's product development department, it all started from a very simple idea. Seed already had two large eraser models: S-1000 (130x66x27mm) and S-JUMBO (160x75x27 mm); therefore, they decided to create an even larger product.
The first Radar S-10000 eraser was initially produced as a gift for the annual 'Eraser Quick Eraser Contest' hosted by the company. However, this prize garnered attention from many loyal Seed customers, prompting the company to turn it into a commercial product.
While creating a large-sized eraser posed a challenge, given the difficulty of erasing with such thick material, Seed managed to make this oversized eraser operate smoothly and effectively, no less than the smaller products in the Radar lineup.
The S-10000 eraser has been on the market for a while, but recently caused a stir in Japan when someone posted a photo of the product on Twitter. Seed expressed gratitude to this customer for helping them increase product recognition. The product is currently being sold for $100 (about over 2 million VND) on various e-commerce platforms. International customers can also easily own this giant eraser.
