SAP, which stands for System Applications and Products in Data Processing, serves as a widely utilized tool in the domain of plants and manufacturers. This tutorial will walk you through the process of generating a basic notification in SAP using IW21. Depending on your SAP software's version/release/level, you may encounter variations in codes (such as IW26) or encounter slightly different interfaces, but the fundamental steps will be covered here.
Steps:

Launch SAP: Navigate to it in your Start menu or your Applications folder in Finder.

Enter 'IW21' into the top bar and press ↵ or ⏎ on your keyboard: This action will load the 'Create PM Notification: Initial Screen.' If IW21 doesn't work, try using 'IW26.'

Click on the option adjacent to 'Notification type.' This action will prompt a new window to appear.

Select 'Maintenance Request'. If you have multiple notification types, locate and choose 'Maintenance Request.' Upon selection, the window will close.

Click the green checkmark icon. This icon is situated at the top left corner of your screen, leading you to the 'Create PM Notification: Maintenance Request' screen.

Input a title for your notification beside 'Notification.' Ensure the title clearly indicates the task you intend to perform.
- For instance, a title like 'Check Motor-6700' prompts an inspection of unit 6700's motor.

Specify the object's location beside 'Functional loc.' Once you move to the next field, the location's name will appear alongside the text field.

Click the icon located beside 'Functional loc.' This icon resembles two green squares beneath a larger orange square and displays 'Structure List' when hovered over.

Locate and double-click the equipment linked to the notification. Utilize the arrows to expand sections of the list until you find the specified object.
- Once the equipment name is double-clicked, the field adjacent to 'Equipment' will automatically populate.

Provide a detailed description of the notification in the 'Subject Long Text.' Elaborate on the issues related to motor 6700.

Click the save icon. This icon resembles a floppy disk and is usually found at the top of your screen.
