The Medela Swing breast pump stands out as a trusted and widely used product among mothers.
While using it, if milk accidentally enters the motor, not every mother is familiar with the proper handling. Here, I will provide guidance on how mothers can clean the Medela Swing breast pump to ensure its durability and prevent the infiltration of bacteria into breast milk.
In case of an oversight resulting in milk entering the machine, immediately turn off the device and follow these steps to clean it:
Preparation:
- Warm water
- Clean cloth
- 200ml warm soapy water
- 200ml warm clean water
Execution:
- Use a clean cloth to wipe the body of the milk extractor.
- Open the battery compartment, take out the black sponge, clean it with warm water, and let it air dry.
- Insert one end of the suction tube into the machine body, plug the other end of the tube into a container of warm soapy water.
Note: The control panel on the machine body must face upwards to prevent water from flowing and damaging the control panel.
- Hold the machine body, position a bowl underneath, then turn on the machine. Soapy water will be suctioned into the machine through the tube, and water will flow down through the battery compartment.
- Repeat until all soapy water is completely drained.
- Repeat the above steps with a container of clean water.
Attention: During the machine cleaning, if the motor stops working, it means the machine has suctioned in too much water. Mothers should pull the suction tube out of the water container and turn on the machine again.
- After washing, switch the machine to the suction mode and select the highest pressure level, let the machine run (without the container) for at least 5 minutes to allow the machine to completely dry.
With these simple steps, you have thoroughly cleaned any accidentally leaked milk in the motor of the Medela Swing breast pump!
Note: For mothers using Unimom, Spectra, Mamago, Mother-V breast pumps, please follow the instructions and characteristics of each type of machine. Do not follow this guide without specific instructions.
