Hittite stands as a powerful force, arguably the strongest across all unit types and maps. All technologies and military units in the Hittite arsenal are maximally upgraded, showcasing immense power.
In the Iron Age (upon reaching Age 4), Hittite is regarded as the mightiest army, surpassing even the Egyptians. Discover the strengths, weaknesses, and strategies used by skilled players to master the Hittite civilization
Strengths of Hittite Units
- Hittite units are the most versatile in the Empire, encompassing nearly all unit types from BL, BK, and BA (except for the A Archer).
- Most Hittite units can be upgraded to godly forms (Chariot Archer, War Elephant, Ballista, Horse Archer, and more).
- Hittite Ballistae gain a 50% health boost, reaching 300 health when upgraded to Divine.
- All BA archers receive a +1 Damage bonus. Upgrading to Horse Archer and Ignition grants them 8+2 damage.
- Hittite R Archer in the Iron Age has higher hit points than Assyrian and only falls short of Egyptian.
Weaknesses of Hittite Units
- Lack of Stone Slingers in the Bronze Age (though rarely used in Age 2 battles).
- Peasants lack special abilities (standard productivity).
- Absence of A Archers (compensated by the availability of R Archers with 4+1 range).

Playing Experience with Greek
Starting Out
- Send 2 villagers to construct Economic Buildings (BE), and send 1 remaining villager to scout for berry bushes.
- Upon finding berries, immediately assign 6 villagers to gather them.
- The 6th/8th villager continues constructing the BE, and the 7th villager joins the berry gathering.
- After completing the BE, the 6th villager explores the map, and the 8th and 9th villagers focus on wood chopping. The 10th/12th villager builds another BE.
- Aim to have the 14th-15th villagers construct Storage Pits for wood harvesting.
- Focus on gathering wood, build around 2 Storage Pits in Age 1 (for aggressive play). Include 3 Storage Pits if focusing on Archery Range units.
- When advancing to Age 3, assign 6 villagers to gather Gold. Alternatively, focus on wood and build 7-8 farms if going for Archery Range units.
- Construct 2 Barracks (BL) for early aggression.
- Utilize the +1 damage advantage of Bronze Age units against Hittite R Archers. Build around 4-5 Bronze Age archery ranges.
Standard Attack Strategies, depending on the unit choice
+ Attack with Infantry or Priests.
The number of villagers needed to advance: Aim for 24 to 28 villagers depending on the match (wealthier players can use fewer villagers and tribute the surplus to enemy Barracks for quick destruction).
- Age 2: While advancing to Age 3, upgrade gold mining in the Market and allocate 5 villagers for gold mining (skip if resources are strained, assign 6 villagers for gold mining).
- Age 3:
. Build 2 Barracks. Consider constructing 1 defensive Barracks and a Tower to counter enemy Gold units.
. Upgrade attack: If advancing to the next age ahead of the opponent.
. Upgrade armor: If facing early aggression.
. Upgrade attack + 4 and armor + 4 when feasible.
. Build additional Barracks and Towers when surplus in wood, food, and Gold.
. Upgrade Wheel for enhanced Chariot and single-line movement.
. Upgrade headgear for increased hit points.
- Age 4: For agility and swift advantage against opponents, construct numerous Bronze Age structures during Age 4 advancement. Upon reaching Age 4, upgrade Intercept, Ignition, and +3 range for Horse units, and swiftly train Horse units from the Bronze Age structure for an attack with 8+2 damage.
+ Archery Play (R, A):
Number of villagers needed to advance: Request 24 or 27 villagers depending on the match (wealthy players can use fewer villagers and tribute the surplus to enemy Barracks for quick destruction)
- Age 2: Currently advancing to 3, upgrade wood chopping (house B, stone hammer shape)
- Age 3:
. Build 4 or 5 BA houses, depending on your wood amount, balance enough wood and food
. Build BC houses, mine 120 gold > Upgrade headgear (if you have enough resources)
. Upgrade armor: If facing opponents with early arrow attacks
. Upgrade wood chopping 2 for longer range, chop more wood
- Age 4: Can play various unit types like Horse C, Double Battering Ram, Divine Ballista depending on the match.
+ In many Random matches with Hittite, players can choose to attack with BL to use Siege or use BP to defend against Witches at home before opponents attack with Siege, camels. Then switch to Wheels to play R Archery, single-line movement.
Another strategy of Hittite is to go straight to R Archery. Close your base and build around 4 BA houses, then distribute your villagers evenly over 3 turns to defend against early aggression. Remember to upgrade armor for R Archery units.
If successfully defending your base, Hittite's counter-attack potential is formidable.
Conclusion:
With Hittite units, players should still consider demolishing their base and advancing to R Archery units if the base layout is favorable. Because only Hittite's BA houses have a strategic advantage against other armies.
