How to Add Fonts to Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is one of the top image editing software programs globally, popular among both amateurs and professionals. Adding text to images or graphics is a common feature of the program, offering an extensive variety of fonts that go beyond the default fonts available on your computer. Adding fonts to Photoshop is a simple task; just save them to your computer’s hard drive – the program will take care of the rest.

Download Fonts from the Internet. You can search online with keywords like "free fonts" or "phông chữ miễn phí", and simply click "download" to get the font you want. There are hundreds of websites that offer fonts online, and the first site you find usually provides a good selection that is safe to use.

• Typically, the easiest method is to save all your fonts in a folder on your desktop for easy management. However, as long as you know where the fonts are stored after downloading, it won’t be an issue.

Open a window to browse for fonts. It doesn’t matter which version you’re using, even for Windows XP – an operating system no longer supported or updated – you can still install fonts. If you downloaded a .ZIP file, right-click and select extract. Then, find the fonts by looking at the file extensions. Photoshop fonts usually have the following extensions:

• .otf
• .ttf
• .pbf
• .pfm

Right-click on the font and select "Install". If this option is available, great: everything will be installed! You can even hold the Ctrl or Shift key and click to select and install multiple fonts at once.

Use the Control Panel to add fonts if you don’t see the "Install" option. Some computers don’t make the installation process straightforward, but you can still add fonts in a simple way. First, click the Start menu, then click Control Panel. From here:

• Click "Appearance and Personalization" – (Note: Skip this step for Windows XP).
• Click "Fonts".
• Right-click on the font list and select "Install New Font" (Note: In Windows XP, this task is found under the "File" menu).
• Select the font you want and click "OK" to complete the installation.

Find and download new fonts. Search online with terms like "Free Photoshop Fonts Mac" or "Phông chữ Photoshop Miễn phí Mac". Countless options will appear, and you can easily download and add them to your computer. It’s a good idea to save the fonts in a new folder on your desktop, such as "Temporary Fonts" to make them easier to access and manage.

Close all running applications. Most applications use fonts, meaning they will check for available fonts on your Mac. The font must be installed beforehand for the program to locate and apply it. Therefore, make sure all applications are closed before proceeding.

Double-click on a specific font to add it to Font Book. If the downloaded font is inside a ZIP folder, double-click the file to open it. Here, simply double-click on a specific font, and Font Book will open it. The font file extensions include:

• .otf

Click "Install Font" when Font Book appears. The new .ttf or .otf file will open in Font Book. From here, click "Install Font" at the bottom left to install it. Photoshop will automatically detect it and handle the rest.

Alternatively, you can manually move the font into the font library in the Finder app. There are two easily accessible locations where you can place the font. You can even copy one of the paths below and paste it into the search bar, replacing <username> with your actual username. Search either location (use the first one if you have administrative privileges). However, adding the font to any of these folders will work.

Click on one or more new fonts, drag and drop them into the folder to activate. Once the font is in place, you can start using it. Reopen your applications to begin applying the new font in Photoshop.
