This article provides a detailed guide on how to modify the birthday displayed on your personal Facebook profile. You can make these changes using either the Facebook mobile app or the website. If you prefer not to share your birthday publicly, Facebook also offers the option to hide this information.
Steps
On a Smartphone
Launch the Facebook app, which features a white "f" on a blue background. Once opened, you'll be directed to your Facebook News Feed if you're already logged into your account on your phone or tablet.
- If you're not logged in, you'll need to enter your email address (or phone number) and password to proceed.
Tap the ☰ icon located at the bottom-right corner of the screen (on iPhone) or the top-right corner (on Android devices).
Tap your name at the top of the menu. This action will redirect you to your personal profile page.
Select About below your profile picture.
- On Android, you may need to scroll down to find the About option.
Scroll down to the "BASIC INFO" section and tap Edit. The Edit button is on the right side of the screen, aligned with the "Basic Info" heading.
- On Android, you may need to select More About You first.
Edit your birthday details. Under the "BIRTHDAY" section, you'll find fields for the day, month, and year of your birth. Update this information as follows:
- Tap on the day, month, or year to open a selection menu.
- Choose the correct day, month, or year you wish to display.
- Repeat this process for each value you want to modify.
Scroll down and select Save at the bottom of the "Edit Profile" page. This will update your birthday in the "About" section of your profile.
On a Computer
Go to Facebook's website. Type https://www.facebook.com into your preferred browser. This will take you to your News Feed if you're already logged into your Facebook account.
- If you're not logged in, enter your email address (or phone number) and password to proceed.
Click on your name. Your name is displayed at the top-right corner of the Facebook page. Click on it to navigate to your profile.
Click on the About tab located below your profile picture on the right side.
Click on Contact and Basic Info on the left side of the About page.
Scroll down to the birthday section under the "BASIC INFO" heading to make edits as follows:
- Select your birth date or birth year.
- Click Edit on the right side of the page.
- Click on the month, day, or year you wish to change.
- Choose the new month, day, or year.
- Repeat this process for each part of your birthday you want to update.
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the displayed window. This will update your birthday in the "About" section of your profile.
Tips
- It's best to enter your birthday on Facebook. If you're uncomfortable sharing it, you can still hide your birthday on your profile.
- You can only change your birthday a few times before Facebook restricts this feature for a few days.
Warning
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Facebook. Keep this in mind when updating your birth date.
