How to Check the Balance on an iTunes Gift Card

One day, you might find an old iTunes gift card you completely forgot about, and suddenly, you're wondering whether it’s been used yet. Technically, iTunes gift cards don’t have a balance to check. Once redeemed, the full value of the card is credited to your Apple account. To find out if the card has been used, you can check your Apple account balance. The only way to know for sure if the card still holds value is to try redeeming it.

Open iTunes. You can do this by locating the app on your mobile device or program on your computer. Click or tap on the icon or file to launch the application. This can also be done through the iBooks Store or the App Store.

Go to the iTunes Store. On a computer, the "Store" button is located at the top of the screen, just below the menu bar. On iOS devices, you need to tap the “Featured” button at the bottom of the screen.

Click on Redeem. On a computer, click the “Account” button at the top of the screen. In the dropdown menu, select the “Redeem” option at the bottom. On iOS, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap the "Redeem" button.

• For Android, tap the menu icon in the top left corner of the screen. This icon looks like three horizontal lines. Then, tap “Redeem” from the dropdown menu.

Sign in to your Apple account. To redeem the card and add its value to your account, you must first log in. After clicking on “Redeem,” a login window will appear. Enter your Apple ID and password, or create an account if you don’t have one.

Enter the code on the card. iTunes will prompt you to manually enter the code from the card. Look on the back of the card for a 16-character code starting with the letter “X.” Enter this code. If the card has a balance, the value will be added to your account.

• You also have the option to use your device’s camera to scan the code. Tap the “Use Camera” option to enable the camera.

Open the iTunes app. Find the iTunes app on your device. You can also check your iTunes account balance by opening iBooks or the App Store and following the same steps.

Go to the iTunes Store. On a computer, the “Store” option will appear at the top of the screen. For example, when you're in the music library, the header bar below the playback controls and the main navigation bar will start with “Library” and end with “Store.” Click the "Store" button to access the iTunes Store.

• The “Store” button is also located similarly in any section of the library. Whether you’re listening to music, watching videos, browsing podcasts, or anything else, the “Store” option will always be in the same place.
• An alternative way to quickly check your account balance is to click the “Account” button in the top navigation bar. Then select “View My Account” from the dropdown menu.

Find your account balance. On iPhones, iPads, and iPods, scroll to the bottom of the screen. On a computer, the account balance will be located in the top right corner.

• On mobile devices, if you don’t see the user ID, tap the “Featured” button at the bottom of the screen and scroll down.

Sign in to your account. If you're not logged in, tap the sign-in button at the bottom of the screen. On a computer, click the “Account” button at the top of the screen, then select “Sign In” from the dropdown menu. Enter your Apple ID and password, or create a new account.

Check your account balance. After logging in, the sign-in button on mobile devices will display your Apple ID. Below this, you'll see your balance, such as “575,000 VND.” On a computer, the balance will appear in the top right corner of the store. If you know how much money is in your account, you'll be able to determine if the gift card can be redeemed.

• If you're checking someone else's gift card, make sure to log in to their Apple account. Once you redeem the card, its value will be added to the active account.
