This guide explains how to download YouTube videos for offline viewing on your iPad. Using third-party apps to download videos is against YouTube's terms of service, and it also violates copyright laws, which is why most apps offering this functionality are removed from the App Store.
Steps
Use YouTube Premium

Launch YouTube. The app's icon is a white square with a red rectangle surrounding a white triangle.

Click on the Google profile picture. The image is located in the top right corner of the screen.
- If you're not signed in, click on the red and white icon at the top right, then click SIGN IN and enter your Google username and password.

Click Get YouTube Premium. The button is located at the top of the menu.
- YouTube Premium is a paid subscription service that allows you to download videos for offline viewing on your device without violating YouTube's terms of service.
- Streaming is a way to watch videos without owning a direct copy, much like watching TV, but it requires an internet connection. Streaming protects the copyright of the video creators.
- Downloaded videos will take up storage on your iPad but can be viewed offline. If you didn’t buy or record the video yourself, or obtain permission from the creator, owning a copy may violate copyright laws. Downloading videos from YouTube usually violates YouTube’s terms of service.

Click TRY IT FREE. The button is on the right side of the screen.
- A 30-day trial version is available for new members.
- You can cancel through the YouTube Settings menu.

Enter your password. Provide the password linked to your Apple ID to confirm your purchase.

Click Okay.

Click the "search" icon. This icon, resembling a magnifying glass, is located at the top right corner of the screen.

Type in a search keyword. Use the search bar at the top of the screen to input a video title or description.

Click the ⋮. This button is located next to the title of the video you wish to download.

Click on Save offline (Save for offline use). The button is located in the center of the menu.

Select the video quality. Based on the original quality of the video, you can choose the download quality.
- Higher quality videos take up more storage space on your iPad.

Click the OK. This step downloads the video to your iPad's storage.

Click the Library icon. It’s the folder-shaped symbol located at the bottom of the screen.

Click on Offline videos. It’s a button on the left side of the screen, under "Available offline".
- The downloaded videos will appear on the right side.
- Click the video to start playback.
Use Documents 5

Open the App Store. The app is blue with a white "A" inside a circular icon.

Search for Documents 5. In the App Store, tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom, then start typing "Documents 5" into the text field at the top of the screen.

Tap on Documents 5. The item will appear below the text box.

Tap on Get (Install). This button is on the right side of the Documents 5 app.
- After a moment, the button will change to Install; tap it to install the app on your device.

Press the Home button. This button is circular and located on the front of the iPad.

Launch YouTube. The app is white with a red rectangle surrounding a white triangle.

Search for a video. Use the search bar at the top of the screen to enter a video title or description.

Tap on the video. This action selects the video you wish to download.

Click the Share button. This button has a curved arrow pointing upwards and to the right, located below the video frame.

Tap on Copy Link (Copy URL). This button is located at the bottom of the menu.

Press the Home button. This circular button is located on the front of the iPad.

Open Documents 5. The app has a white background with the letter 'D' in brown.

Click on the Browser (Web Browser). This button is located in the upper-left corner of the screen.

Go to SaveFrom.net. Type "savefrom.net" in the search bar at the top of the browser and press Return (Enter).

Press and hold the Just Insert a Link button. This button is located just below the search bar.

Click on the Paste button. This action will insert the YouTube link into the text field.

Click the>. This button, displayed in blue, is located on the right side of the link you entered.

Select video quality. Click the text next to the blue "Download" button that appears below the link you entered. This will open a menu displaying available video formats and qualities. Click the quality to choose it.
- MP4 is the most common format, and it's ideal for iPad.

Click Download. This action will open a dialog box where you can rename the file, if desired.

Click Done (Complete). This blue button is located on the right side at the top of the dialog box.

Click ≡. This button is located on the top left side of the screen.

Click on Documents. This button is located at the top-left corner of your screen.

Click on Downloads. The button featuring a folder icon can be found at the right side of the screen.

Click and hold the video.

Drag the video to the upper-left side. Move the file with the text "Drag Here" and hold it until the folder icon appears on your screen.

Drag the video into the "Photos" folder and release it. The video will then display the colorful flower icon of the Photos app.

Press the Home button. This is the round button located on the front of the iPad.

Open Photos. The app is white with a flower icon made up of a spectrum of colors.

Click on All Photos. This album is located at the top-left corner of the screen.

Tap on the video. This is the last item on the bottom of the summary screen. Tap to open the video and begin playback in the iPad's Photos app.

- At this time, YouTube does not support or encourage downloading videos for offline viewing. Keep in mind that third-party video downloading apps or websites may stop working at any time or be removed from the App Store without prior notice or warning.
