
1. What is Mono Audio?
Mono is short for “monophonic”, where “phonic” refers to sound, and “mono” means one. Sound emitted from a single channel is called mono sound. Monophonic doesn’t refer to the number of musical instruments in an audio recording, but rather the channels this sound is transmitted through.

Most electronic devices including phones and computers are configured by manufacturers to use stereo sound. However, users can easily adjust this by enabling sound settings on the Windows operating system.
2. How to enable/disable mono audio using Windows Settings
Enabling or disabling Mono Audio on Windows is straightforward. Simply press the Win + I key combination to launch the Settings app.

Next, select Sound from the right-hand panel. Scroll down to find the Mono Audio option and toggle it on using the button on the right.
In case you encounter some previously unheard sounds, try enabling them to see if they play now.
3. How to enable/disable Mono Audio using Accessibility Settings
Press the Win + I key combination to open the Settings app. On the left-hand control panel, select Accessibility, then choose Audio from the right screen. Look for the Mono Audio option and toggle the switch next to it.

Turn on sound to test if this feature is working. If you want to disable it, click the switch again to toggle it off.
