Update 2/2/18: While we're fixing the embedded video above, you can watch this episode on YouTube
Welcome to the third episode of How to Fake Playing Piano. In the first lesson, composer Jason Oberholtzer showed you what to do with your left hand. In the second lesson, he introduced scales and the C major key. Today, he'll guide you through chords and keys beyond C major.
As someone with little knowledge of music, as seen in the video, Jason's method seems to take the 'learn three chords' technique from guitar lessons and apply it to the piano. It’s not the route to becoming a concert pianist, but it’s enough to help you enjoy playing.
I struggled to keep up when Jason introduced the key of D. For now, I’ll stick with C. But if you picked it up quicker than I did, you're now opening up a whole new world of music.
This is the part where, even with our shortcuts, progress won’t come without practice. However, your practice can be flexible—you don’t have to repeat 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' a hundred times.
