How to link directly to a specific time in a YouTube video

This article will guide you on how to share a YouTube video starting at a specific timestamp. By adding an extension to the URL, the video will play right at the time you want. However, this method doesn't work on mobile devices.

Access YouTube. Go to the page of the video you want to share. If you're not sure how, check out how to search for and watch YouTube videos.

Pause the video at your desired time. Stop the video at the exact moment you want to share. The timestamp will appear at the bottom left corner of the video player. In this example, it's "0:11/2:36".

Right-click directly within the video frame. A dropdown menu will appear with a list of available options.

Click the task "Copy video URL at current time". The link to the specific time on the video will be copied to your clipboard.

Paste the URL. Whenever someone clicks on the link, the video will play from the moment you paused and copied the video URL.

Click on the "Share" button below the video. The "Share" button is located next to the three-dot icon forming a triangle.

Enter your desired time. Beneath the video link and various media icons, you'll find a field next to the text "Start at". By default, the time displayed will be when you paused the video. If you want to change it, simply click inside the box and type your preferred time. For example, if you want to share starting at 2 minutes 30 seconds, type 2:30 in the box.

• Click the checkbox next to the "Start at" label to automatically embed the URL to the exact time.

Copy the link. Double-click on the link to highlight it. Then, right-click on the highlighted text and select "Copy", or press Ctrl+C.

Copy and paste the URL. Whenever someone clicks the link, they will be directed straight to the specified time in the video.
