Search for suitable users to add as friends. You can use the search bar at the top of the Facebook page to look for users by their name or email address. Click on the search result to view their timeline.
- You can also access someone's timeline by clicking on their name in a post.

Find out how well you know them. When you visit someone's timeline, you can see how many mutual friends you share with them. This feature helps you remember if you are familiar with the person or not.

Click the Add Friend button. This button appears in two places on someone's timeline. One button can be found to the right of their name at the top of the page, while the other is located at the top of their timeline under "People You May Know." The button is blue in color.
- Once you click the Add Friend button, it will change to Friend Request Sent. If you hover over this button, you'll see a menu that lets you cancel the request or suggest the friend to someone else.

Wait for them to accept your friend request. Once you become friends, you can enjoy some great conversations with your new friend!
Accepting a Friend Request

Receiving a friend request. Depending on your Facebook settings, you might receive an email notification when someone sends you a friend request. If you have email notifications disabled, you'll see a red notification icon at the top of the page under the Add Friend button.

Click Confirm to add them as a friend. The Confirm button can be found in the dropdown menu. You can categorize the new friend into a separate list, choose which updates you want to receive from them, or even remove them from your friend list.
Tips
- If you don't recognize the person or think you might not know them, it's best to send them a message asking who they are. Always pay attention to mutual friends, as this could indicate they are a friend of a friend.
