This smooth and stretchy slime is different from traditional slime – it’s soft, flexible, and a lot of fun to play with even when it’s still firm. You can stretch, squeeze, and shape it, and it will return to its original form. This slime is soft and non-sticky, unlike other types! Why not take a little time to make this fun slime?
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of school glue
- 1/2 cup of shaving cream
- About 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon of borax powder (boric acid)
- 1 cup of hot water
- Body lotion (optional)
- 1/2 cup of bubble bath or liquid soap (optional)
- Food coloring (optional)
Steps

Start by preparing the borax solution. Take 1 teaspoon of borax powder and add it to a cup (240ml) of hot water. Stir until the powder dissolves, then set it aside for later use.
Pour 1/2 cup (120ml) of glue into a separate bowl.
Add 1/2 cup (120ml) of shaving cream to the glue.{
Add 1/2 cup (120ml) of shower gel or foaming soap (optional). Adding shower gel or foaming soap will make the slime smoother and stretchier, but it is fine if you choose not to use it.
Stir until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps. The mixture will have a thick and smooth consistency, similar to marshmallow cream.
Add a little over 1 tablespoon (15ml) of cornstarch. Cornstarch helps make the slime thicker and maintain its shape.
- Although cornstarch is not strictly necessary for this recipe, omitting it might result in slime that lacks the proper thickness to hold its form.
Stir thoroughly but gently. (Cornstarch can easily splatter outside the bowl).
Add a body lotion to the slime. This will make the slime stretchier. Press the pump on the lotion bottle twice to dispense enough product for the slime.
- You may skip this step if you prefer not to add it now—you can always add it later.
Include food coloring. Too much food coloring can stain your hands or other surfaces, so if you’re using concentrated coloring, add only 2 drops. Stir until the white streaks disappear.
Add 3 teaspoons of borax solution to the slime. Stir well, then gradually add 1-3 more teaspoons of borax solution until the slime reaches your desired consistency.
- You may not use all the borax solution. Be careful not to add too much, or the slime could become too hard and crack. The original recipe calls for 6-9 teaspoons (44ml) of borax solution.
Knead the slime. Once the slime has formed into a ball and is easy to remove from the bowl, place it on a flat surface and knead it evenly with your hands.
- If the slime is still too sticky, add about 1 teaspoon of borax solution and knead it carefully.
Apply body lotion to the slime to enhance its stretchiness. If the slime is smooth and stretchy but not elastic enough, add a bit of body lotion to the surface, spread it evenly, and knead again. Repeat this until the slime has the stretchiness you desire.
- If using a lotion with a pump, you’ll need to pump it 16 times to achieve perfect elasticity, so don't be shy!
Play with the slime. This type of slime is stretchy, pliable, and lots of fun to play with—it will keep your hands busy!
Tips
- Adding glitter will make the slime harder. If you want to include it, reduce the amount of borax.
- The larger the container, the more space it will have to help the slime maintain its structure.
- Acrylic paint can be used instead of food coloring.
- You can also use clear glue, but it’s not crucial. The slime won’t stay clear once you add shaving cream, so it’s better to use regular white glue.
- If you don’t have borax powder, try using liquid starch, laundry detergent, or contact lens solution.
- Replace cornstarch with baby powder if you don’t have enough cornstarch.
- The basic smooth and stretchy slime is made from glue, shaving cream, and borax solution, but it won’t hold its shape and may have an unpleasant smell.
- If you run out of shaving cream, use foaming soap—it works just as well.
- Store your slime in a sealed container after playing with it.
- It’s best to keep the slime in a container, as it will dry out if left exposed.
- You can make more slime by doubling or tripling the ingredients needed for a single batch.
- You can substitute contact lens solution or saline solution for borax solution.
