There are several reasons why you might need to reset your Bosch dishwasher. Whether it's because you need to add more dishes, clear an error message, fix a frozen display, or change the cycle settings, some issues can be solved with just a few button presses. Other resets, however, may require a more detailed approach. With a bit of practice, you'll quickly learn how to reset your Bosch dishwasher for any reason.
Steps
Using the Display to Reset Your Dishwasher
Open the door just enough to access the buttons. If your dishwasher is running a cycle and you wish to stop it, open the door slightly to prevent water from spilling out. Bosch dishwashers typically do not stop the cycle when the door is opened, but with some models, you need to do this in order to reach the control buttons.
- Be cautious, as hot water can cause burns.
Press and hold the Start button until the 'Active' light turns off. To stop the cycle running on your Bosch dishwasher, simply press and hold the Start button until the 'Active' indicator turns off.
- This method works whether the cycle is running or if the display is frozen at a cycle that can't be started.
Drain the water from the dishwasher. If you need to add or remove dishes, wait about one minute before fully opening the door to avoid water spilling out the front.
- If the machine is set to its highest level, it will take longer to drain all the water.
Press the Start button again to begin a new cycle. After completing the previous cycle and draining the water, the dishwasher will need to start the entire cycle over. Once you reset the machine this way, simply press the Start button to begin as usual.
Hold the Start button for 3 seconds. The most effective way to reset your Bosch dishwasher is to press and hold the Start button for 3 seconds. The Start button may be labeled 'Reset,' or occasionally 'Reset 3 Seconds.'
- This will clear most issues (like a frozen display), allowing you to restart the dishwasher from scratch.
- On some models, the remaining time on the screen may count down from 0:01 to 0:00. Afterward, you will need to turn the machine off and on again to start a new cycle.
Press both the Start and On/Off buttons simultaneously after turning the power off. After turning off and back on the dishwasher, you will need to reset it. Instead of holding the buttons, press both the Start and On/Off buttons at the same time, then release them.
Manually reset the system by following these steps.
Unplug the dishwasher for 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in. Move the dishwasher away from the wall to disconnect the power cord. For certain errors and unresponsive screens, unplugging the device can clear the stored settings causing the issue. Afterward, plug it back in and reset from the beginning.
- Be sure to check if the power cable is wet and if any water has accumulated behind the dishwasher. For large appliances, unplugging when the cord is wet may lead to electrical accidents.
Turn off the circuit breaker to cut power. If the plug is in a difficult-to-reach spot or has residual water, you can use the fuse box to shut off the power in the area where the dishwasher is located.
- Note: when you switch off the breaker, all lights and electrical devices in the same area as the dishwasher will also turn off.
- Wait 2-3 minutes, then restore power.
Fix the E-15 error by unplugging and tilting the dishwasher. The E-15 error is common in Bosch dishwashers and occurs when water reaches the sensor located at the bottom of the machine. You can resolve this issue by performing a reset. Simply unplug the device, inspect the hoses for damage or leaks, then tilt the machine toward the wall. Afterward, plug it back in and turn the machine on.
