Today, Mytour will guide you through the process of sending animated GIFs as text messages on Android smartphones or tablets. GIFs are short animated images commonly used to communicate with friends in a fun way. Once you've downloaded a GIF file from the internet, you can easily attach it to a text message. Even better, you can use apps like Giphy or Google’s Gboard keyboard to search for and send GIFs directly as text messages.
Steps
Attach a GIF to a Text Message

- If you don’t have the Android Messages app, you can download it from the Google Play Store.

Select a contact. If you're starting a new conversation, click on a contact in your address book or enter the name/phone number into the "To" field at the top of the screen.

Tap on Gallery (Library). Click on the "Gallery" tab to choose the GIF file you've downloaded onto your phone.

Pick a GIF. Tap on the GIF you wish to send to attach it to your text message. The GIF will appear as a small preview in the message. It will start playing in the preview window so you can see how the GIF looks before sending it.
- If you can't find the specific GIF on your phone, try tapping the ☰ icon in the top-left corner and select Downloads from the left column.

Using the Giphy app

Open Giphy. The app has an icon featuring a neon border with multiple colors on a black background and can be found in your app drawer on Android devices.
- If you don't have it yet, you can download Giphy for free from the Google Play Store.

Browse or search for a GIF to send. You can click on the tabs at the top of the screen to browse GIFs by category, or use the search bar to find a GIF by name or keyword.
- The "Trending" and "Reactions" sections usually have many fun GIFs extracted from popular shows or movies.

Click on the GIF. The GIF will appear in a larger view with several sharing options below.

Tap the green text message icon. This icon is green with a square speech bubble.

Select a contact. If you want to send the GIF to someone from your contacts, you can choose from the list, select the option to add a new contact, or start a new message. Once you select the contact, the GIF preview will appear in the message field.
- These options may vary depending on the default messaging app you are using.
- You can also add an optional message by tapping the text area in the message field.

- On some messaging apps, this button may be labeled "Send".
Using Gboard

Install and set up Gboard on your phone. If you don't have this app yet, you can install Gboard – Google's keyboard for Android devices.

Open the messaging app and start a new text message. In your phone's default messaging app, you can select an ongoing conversation or click the option to compose a new message and choose a recipient from your contacts list.

Tap the text field to compose a message. Click on the message field to type your message. In some messaging apps, this might be labeled as "Text message" or something similar. If Gboard is set as the default keyboard, it will automatically appear on your screen.

Tap on the GIF. The GIF tab is located at the bottom row or somewhere near the center of the keyboard.

Browse or search for a GIF. You can browse GIFs by tapping the category tabs below the GIFs, or enter a keyword in the search bar to find a specific GIF.

Tap on the GIF to add it to your message. Click on the GIF you want to send, and it will be automatically inserted into the text message you're composing.

- On some messaging apps, this button may be labeled "Send".
