This guide will teach you how to use your Android device to transfer Pokémon from the John GBA emulator to the MyBoy emulator. Unfortunately, you cannot trade Pokémon with users of other emulators. However, you can still trade with yourself to transfer Pokémon between the two emulators.
Steps

Meet the prerequisites. To trade Pokémon between the John GBA and MyBoy emulators, you need to fulfill the following conditions:
- Both John GBA and MyBoy must be installed on your Android device
- You should have two different supported Pokémon games (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, and Leaf Green are supported)
- You must have at least one saved game file on both John GBA and MyBoy
- You need to have caught at least two Pokémon on both emulators
Install Astro File Manager.
- Tap on the search bar.
- Type astro file manager
- Tap on File Browser by Astro (File Manager) in the search results.
- Tap INSTALL
- Tap ACCEPT when prompted.

Open Astro File Manager. Tap OPEN when you see the button in the Google Play Store, or tap the Astro File Manager icon in your Android app drawer.

Move the save file from John GBA to the "Download" folder. This step will not only display the file but also make it easier to find when you need it in MyBoy.
- Scroll down and tap Primary (SD Card).
- Tap the Johnemulators folder.
- Tap the GBA folder.
- Tap the save folder.
- Tap and hold the most recent save file.
- Tap ⋮, then tap Copy (Copy to...)
- Tap ☰, then tap Home.
- Tap Primary, then tap the Download folder.
- Tap PASTE at the bottom of the screen.

Open MyBoy. To do this, tap the MyBoy app icon in your Android app drawer.

Select your Pokémon game save file. Navigate to the location of your Pokémon game save file in MyBoy and choose the save file you want to use.
- Remember, this must be a different Pokémon game from the one you're playing on John GBA.

Tap on ☰. This button is located in the top-left corner of the screen. A menu will pop up.

Tap on Local Link. This option is located in the center of the popup menu.

Tap on ANOTHER GAME…. This button is located in the bottom-left corner of the pop-up notification.

Select the save file from John GBA. Navigate to the Download folder and tap on the save file from John GBA that you copied earlier.

Switch back to the first game. Tap ☰ in the top-left corner of the screen, tap Switch game at the top of the menu, then select the name of the first game.

Enter the Pokémon Center. A Pokémon Center can be found in most major cities. It looks like a building with a red roof and a white Pokéball symbol at the front.

Speak with the woman on the far right. Go upstairs and find the woman standing at the far right of the room behind a partition, then follow these steps:
- Press A to start the conversation.
- Select TRADE CENTER when prompted, then press A.
- Press A when asked if you want to save your progress.
- Select YES and press A.

Switch to the second game. Tap ☰ in the top-left corner of the screen, select Switch game at the top of the popup menu, and then choose the second game from the list.

Enter the Pokémon Center and speak with the woman. You need to do this in the same manner as you would speak with the woman in the Pokémon Center in the other game.

Select Confirm when prompted. This step will take you to the Trade Center after a short wait.
- You may need to press Confirm twice.

Enter the Trade Center. Once the Trade Center door opens, step forward to enter the room.

Sit at the computer on the left. Approach the computer on the left, then press A to sit and use it. You will see the message "Communication Standby" indicating that you can proceed to the next step.

Get the character from the other game to sit down. Switch back to the first game, press Confirm if prompted, enter the Trade Center, and then sit at the other computer by approaching it and pressing A.

Trade Pokémon. Now that both characters are sitting at computers in the Trade Center, you can exchange Pokémon back and forth:
- Switch to the second game.
- Choose the Pokémon you want to trade.
- Press A, select TRADE, and press A again.
- Switch back to the first game.
- Select a Pokémon, press A, choose TRADE, and press A again.
- Confirm the trade by pressing A, selecting YES, and pressing A once more.
- Switch to the other game and confirm the trade.
Tips
- You cannot trade between Fire Red/Leaf Green and Ruby/Emerald/Sapphire games until you obtain the National Dex (which contains information about Pokémon from across the nation) in the earlier game. In the later game, the Pokédex (an electronic device providing details about various Pokémon species) is upgraded to the National Dex after trading with Fire Red/Leaf Green.
- Some Pokémon can only evolve through trading.
- Pokémon traded from another game will gain 1.5 times the usual experience (EXP), compared to those not traded. However, if you trade back the same Pokémon, they will receive normal experience. Pokémon traded from a game in another language will receive 1.7 times the usual experience.
Warning
- Some Pokémon may not obey you until you have earned a certain number of badges.
