Vaseline is a well-known moisturizing wax brand that works wonders to nourish and hydrate dry, brittle eyelashes prone to falling out. It helps eyelashes grow longer, thicker, and stronger. Additionally, the moisturizing properties of Vaseline make the skin around the eyelids smoother and more elastic. The best way to use Vaseline for eyelash care is by applying it with a clean mascara brush before going to sleep.
Steps
Clean the mascara brush thoroughly

Wipe off any mascara on the brush. It's best to use a regular tissue, avoiding wet or soft tissues to prevent mascara from smearing. Dab the bristles of the brush with the tissue. For stubborn mascara residue, gently rotate the brush within the tissue to loosen the bristles from the buildup.

Clean the brush. Next, dip the brush bristles into warm water and let it soak for 2-4 minutes. This step helps loosen the dried mascara residue still clinging to the brush.

Use Isopropyl alcohol. After soaking the brush in warm water, there may still be some mascara stuck between the bristles. Soaking the brush in Isopropyl alcohol will effectively remove the mascara and disinfect the brush.

Dry the brush. Gently blot the brush with a tissue to absorb excess moisture. The brush must be completely dry before use. If not using immediately, store the brush in a plastic bag to keep it clean and prevent bacteria growth.
Apply Vaseline

Remove makeup. Gently wipe off the makeup around the eyes and eyelashes. This step ensures that the moisturizing wax can work at its best.

Warm up the Vaseline. Use your fingertips to gently rub the top of the Vaseline to warm it up, making it easier to apply.

Dip the brush into the Vaseline. Make sure to load the brush with a generous amount of Vaseline. It may clump at the front of the brush, but you can use a wet tissue to spread it evenly.

Apply to the upper lashes. Just like applying mascara, begin by brushing Vaseline onto the upper lashes of both eyes. Be careful not to get any in your eyes. If you'd like, you can also apply a small amount of Vaseline to your eyelids to make the skin smoother. However, if you have sensitive skin, you may experience an allergic reaction, so it's advisable to test a small patch on the back of your hand before applying it to your eyelids.

Apply to the lower lashes. Dip the brush into the Vaseline and carefully apply it to the lower lashes of both eyes, ensuring you avoid contact with your eyes.
- The lashes may stick together after applying the Vaseline. Be cautious not to apply too much to avoid it smearing or dripping onto your face. Only use enough to form a thin layer over the lashes.

Allow the Vaseline to work its magic. Apply this method every night to help moisturize the lashes, preventing premature shedding. The moisturizing properties of Vaseline extend the life of each lash, making them thicker and longer.

Clean the Vaseline in the morning. After waking up, you should wash off the Vaseline from your eyes. If it's too sticky and hard to remove, you can use facial cleanser. Since Vaseline contains oil, water alone may not be enough to wash it off. Once removed, you can apply mascara or makeup to your lashes as usual. Consistently following this method will show results within just 3 days.
Tip
- You can use your fingers to apply the Vaseline to your lashes, but only if your hands are thoroughly clean. Otherwise, you risk transferring oil and bacteria into your eyes.
- If you don't have a mascara brush, Vaseline, or prefer not to use Vaseline for natural lash conditioning, you can substitute it with a moisturizing lip balm that contains wax.
Warning
- If Vaseline gets into your eyes or tear ducts, it can allow bacteria to enter, causing discomfort, blurred vision, or even eye infections.
- Be cautious of any skin reactions. Some individuals may be allergic to Vaseline, so it's advisable to perform a patch test by applying a small amount on the back of your hand first.
