1. Chiến lược làm bài Two-part question essay

1.1. Phân tích yêu cầu đề bài

Tương tự những loại bài khác trong IELTS Writing Task 2, thí sinh cần tiến hành phân tích đề bài. Đặc biệt là:

• Chủ đề
• Yêu cầu của đề bài

Note: Để giải quyết tất cả các yêu cầu của đề bài, thí sinh cần xác định rõ yêu cầu bằng cách đọc kỹ instruction words (hướng dẫn hay câu hỏi trong đề). Chính như tên gọi, yêu cầu của dạng bài này luôn bao gồm 2 phần, tương ứng với 2 câu hỏi.

Ví dụ:

Thành công thường được đo bằng sự giàu có và sở hữu vật chất. Bạn có nghĩ rằng tiền bạc là thước đo thành công tốt nhất? Điều gì tạo nên một người thành công?

• Câu hỏi 1: Do you think wealth is the best measure of success?
• Câu hỏi 2: What makes a successful person?

1.2. Cấu trúc bài viết cho dạng bài two part question essay

Cấu trúc bài viết 4 phần:

Introduction:

• Nêu chủ đề của bài viết
• Đưa ra câu trả lời chung, ngắn gọn cho 2 câu hỏi mà đề bài đưa ra.

Body:

• Body 1: Trả lời cho câu hỏi 1. 
• Body 2: Trả lời cho câu hỏi 2.

Conclusion:

• Tóm tắt, khẳng định lại câu trả lời đối với 2 câu hỏi của đề bài.

2. Hướng dẫn viết bài two part question essay trong IELTS Writing Task 2 từng phần

In some countries, the number of people choosing to live by themselves is increasing rapidly in recent years. Why is this the case? Is this a positive or negative development?

2.1. Bắt đầu bài (Introduction)

• Nêu chủ đề của bài viết bằng cách paraphrase lại đề bài

In today’s world, living alone has become an increasingly popular choice for people.

• Đưa ra câu trả lời chung, ngắn gọn cho 2 câu hỏi mà đề bài đưa ra.

There are several reasons why more people are opting for living on their own, and this can cause a range of negative impacts.

2.2. Viết phần thân bài 1 (Body paragraph 1)

Xem xét cách phát triển một đoạn thân bài Writing Task 2 như sau:

Main idea ……..Explain………..Example – Effect/Result………..Conclusion………

• Body 1: Why more and more people choose to live alone? (Vì sao ngày càng nhiều người chọn sống một mình)

Ideas chính 1:

Freedom / Autonomy

Elaborate:

Living independently allows individuals to pursue their own desires without concerns about inconveniencing others.

Illustration:

Young adults might invite friends over for late-night parties, unconcerned about disturbing their parents who live elsewhere.

Main concept 2: 

Reduced Responsibilities

Illustration:

Married life often entails numerous obligations such as caring for children and managing household finances.

Elaborate:

If people live alone, they have more time for their own interests and hobbies (travelling, shopping)

2.3. Crafting Body Paragraph 2

• Body 2: Is this a positive or negative development? (Việc này ảnh hưởng tốt hay xấu?)

Main concept 1: Solitude

Clarify:

Confront their daily challenges independently

Illustration:

When they fall ill, there is no one to care for them, purchase medicine, or transport them to the hospital

Outcome:

They might face difficulties and experience loneliness.

Main concept 2: Increased solitary living leads to higher housing demand

Outcome:

Housing prices are rising rapidly, particularly in urban areas with a shortage of housing.

3. Writing Conclusion

• Khẳng định lại câu trả lời cho 2 câu hỏi đề bài đưa ra. Việc này có thể thực hiện bằng paraphrase lại mở bài.
