2. What aspect of your major do you find most daunting?

The most challenging aspect of my major is the huge workload which includes extensive amounts of required reading. Keeping up with the theoretical linguistics lessons and reading materials can be overwhelming sometimes. However, I view it as an opportunity to enhance my critical thinking and time management skills.

It depends. There are times when I need a quiet space to focus on my studies, which is best achieved through solitary study. On the other hand, group study can be beneficial for collaborative learning where we can exchange ideas and solve problems together. Both approaches have their merits and contribute to my overall learning experience.

Today, I would like to talk about the toughest period I faced during my studies. It occurred in my final year of high school when I was preparing for the national university entrance exam.

The reason why it was hard was because of the huge pressure and expectations associated with this exam. Its results would determine the university and major I would be admitted to, therefore shaping my future career prospects. However, the competition was intense, with countless students applying for limited spots in prestigious universities. And the fear of disappointing my family and teachers further added to the stress.

During that time, I dedicated long hours to self-study in the evenings and weekends while attending school during the day. I focused on revising all the subjects covered in the exam, from mathematics and physics to literature and English. To overcome the difficulties, I had various strategies such as asking for guidance from my teachers, taking extra classes 4 days a week, and forming study groups with my classmates to help each other out. I also practiced past exam papers to become familiar with the upcoming exams.

All in all, even though it was tiring, I'm happy to say that my hard work paid off as I got accepted into my dream university. I'm grateful for that period when I look back because it taught me how to thrive when facing tough challenges, and those skills have continued to help me throughout my academic journey.(Hôm nay, tôi muốn nói về thời gian khó khăn nhất trong quá trình học tập của mình. Đó là trong năm cuối cấp trung học, khi tôi phải chuẩn bị cho kỳ thi Đại học Quốc gia.

Lý do vì sao nó gây khó khăn cho tôi là vì áp lực và những kỳ vọng. Kết quả bài thi sẽ quyết định trường đại học và ngành học của tôi và điều đó ảnh hưởng đến sự nghiệp tương lai của tôi. Bên cạnh đó là sự cạnh tranh khốc liệt với hàng ngàn sinh viên cũng muốn nộp đơn vào những trường đại học danh giá. Ngoài ra, tôi càng cảm thấy căng thẳng vì lo rằng mình sẽ làm gia đình và giáo viên thất vọng.

Trong thời gian ôn thi, ban ngày thì tôi đi học còn vào buổi tối và cuối tuần tôi tập trung cho việc tự học. Tôi tập trung ôn tập tất cả các môn học như Toán, Vật Lý, Ngữ văn và tiếng Anh. Tôi lên nhiều chiến lược để vượt qua khó khăn lúc đó như nhờ sự hướng dẫn từ giáo viên, học thêm 4 ngày một tuần và học nhóm với bạn cùng lớp để giúp đỡ lẫn nhau. Tôi cũng luyện đề thi thử để làm quen với kỳ thi sắp tới.

Mặc dù đó là khoảng thời gian mệt mỏi nhưng tôi rất vui khi thấy công sức mình bỏ ra đạt thành quả tốt vì tôi được nhận vào trường đại học mà mình mơ ước. Tôi thấy biết ơn vì thời gian đó vì nó đó đã dạy cho tôi cách vượt qua những thách thức khó khăn và những kỹ năng đó đã tiếp tục giúp ích trong suốt hành trình học tập của mình.)

I would like to talk about a teacher whom I greatly admire, Ms. Mai. In terms of her personality, she always had a calm and friendly demeanor that made her approachable to all students. I consider myself lucky to have had Ms. Mai as my English teacher throughout high school because she had an incredible ability to bring any lessons to life, making it captivating.

But what truly set Ms. Mai apart was her dedication to our personal growth. She not only focused on academic excellence but also emphasized our overall development by taking the time to understand each student's strengths and weaknesses, and providing support to help us reach our full potential. For example, during my 12th grade, she once organized a mock interview session. We had to design our own resumés and undergo interviews to get a glimpse of what real employment would be like. It was an experience I had never encountered before, and it left a lasting impression on me. This is why my classmates and I always looked forward to attending her class periods, and truancy was a rare occurrence. Overall, Ms. Mai's exceptional teaching skills and dedication make her a truly remarkable teacher. She inspired me to become a better person and taught me the importance of being passionate about one's job.

Yes, I do think that schools should embrace technology into their teaching methods, especially in today's modern world. Children are growing up surrounded by digital devices and the internet, so it only makes sense to include these tools into the curriculum. Technology can enhance the learning process by making theoretical knowledge more interactive and engaging. To be specific, learning through educational games and quizzes not only makes dull lessons more fun but also encourages active participation and healthy competition among students.

2. Do you support or oppose the notion that computers will eventually replace teachers?

In my perspective, it’s highly improbable for technology to substitute educators. Although computers have indeed enriched the classroom experience for students, the human aspect in education remains immensely valuable. Firstly, instructors possess a vast reservoir of knowledge and proficiency acquired through years of hands-on experience. They have the capability to adjust teaching techniques to accommodate the specific needs of individual students. Secondly, as humans, we inherently yearn for meaningful connections, thus, educators play an indispensable role in offering mental and emotional assistance to students. Such personal bonds cannot be replicated solely by computers. To conclude, technology should be regarded as a supplementary tool rather than a complete replacement for educators.
