Ever since I was in my early elementary years, the rice plant has appeared in almost every subject, from literature to natural science to geography. And even in real life, the rice plant can be spotted all across the countryside around Vietnam.
It continually astounds me how such a straightforward plant could sustain an entire nation’s economy. Even today, millions of Vietnamese families still rely on rice cultivation to make ends meet. Vietnam's status as one of the world’s top rice exporters further validates the importance of this plant in my country. Moreover, rice has been an integral part of most families' main meals for centuries. Children adopt the habit of consuming rice from a very young age, while the older generation cannot imagine a day without rice in some form or another.
Throughout millennia, the rice plant has held a significant role in Vietnamese culture, with many traditions and ceremonies stemming from farmers' aspirations for an abundant harvest. Several of these traditions are esteemed as established norms to foreign visitors.
I believe the rice plant has emerged as a powerful symbol of the Vietnamese spirit and warrants considerable admiration across all age groups.
