The bar graph illustrates data on the contribution of various key sectors to the Brazilian economy from 2009 to 2019, with projections for 2029.
It is evident that the financial sector experienced and is expected to continue experiencing consistent growth in its share, while other sectors may either decline or remain stable by the end of the period. Additionally, the financial sector had the highest figures in the first decade and is forecasted to retain its leading position.
After contributing over 30% to the national economy in 2009, finance saw a 5% increase in its share a decade later. This industry is projected to have similar growth by 2029. Conversely, the manufacturing and tourism sectors witnessed a 5% decline from approximately 20% and 25%, respectively. A further 10% decrease is anticipated for manufacturing, while tourism is expected to remain unchanged.
Food processing, oil, coal, and gas showed similar economic shares, peaking at around 20% and 30% in 2019. These figures are likely to revert to their initial levels of about 10% and 25% by the end of the period.
IELTS Writing Task 2
Task 2: The advertising industry has a huge influence on society. Do you think the positive effects of advertising outweigh its negative effects? |

As advertising is key to market penetration and business expansion, it exerts more influence on various spheres of life than ever before. I am convinced that the negatives of this industry eclipse its positives.
From a business perspective, marketing campaigns can simultaneously drive a brand’s sales growth and diminish its public image. TV commercials and billboards effectively create awareness about products and services and update about their modifications when necessary. This generates consumer demand and urges purchases. However, it is not unknown for controversial advertisements to draw undesirably negative attention. To launch a new pasta line of products, Dolce & Gabbana released their promotional videos in China in 2018. The image of a Chinese woman struggling to eat pizza and spaghetti with chopsticks was accused of disrespecting Chinese culture and anti-Asian racism. The campaign led to an unexpected impact on their reputation in this market.
Considering another standpoint also indicates that while the advertising industry may offer certain benefits to one’s daily life, its manipulation may cause detrimental changes in consumer behaviour. The prime goal of an advertisement is to inform and educate target customers about a particular product. If its value is accepted, they should adopt the long-term habit of using the product. That said, the manipulative nature of several marketing tools negatively associates consumerism with a measure of self-worth. Obsessed with appearing successful and affluent, many individuals spend enormous amounts impulsively as soon as a commercial clip goes viral on social media.
In conclusion, the role of advertisers seems to be more harmful than beneficial. Although they help boost sales and introduce better living standards, misleading content might topple brands and encourage an extravagant lifestyle.
