Irvin's debut cookbook, "Marbled, Swirled, and Layered," was named one of the best baking cookbooks of 2016 by the New York Times and featured in Entertainment Weekly, O Magazine, Library Journal, and Booklist. Irvin won the IACP Best in Show photography award in 2013 and has been a part of the Executive Committee for the IACP cookbook awards in 2022.
Irvin has led cooking classes and workshops at numerous venues, such as Macy's Basement, the San Francisco Cooking School, and Pinterest Headquarters. He launched Eat the Love in 2010 and began contributing to Simply Recipes in 2017. Irvin continues to contribute to both The Spruce Eats and Serious Eats.
Irvin's top cooking tip: "Taste and season with salt as you cook. If your dish lacks depth, it’s often a sign it needs salt to bring out the flavors."
Education
Irvin holds a BA in English Literature and a BFA in Painting from Washington University in St. Louis.
