I. Limiting Feedback in Google Forms
Method 1: Restrict Feedback in Google Forms Using Google Account
The simplest way to limit feedback in Google Forms is by using a Google account. In this method, respondents will need to take an extra step to log in with their Google account to provide feedback, with each account restricted to one response.
To get started, open the Google Forms survey in your Chrome browser on your computer. Then, locate and click on the settings icon, represented by a gear icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Next, in the Settings window on the screen, under the General tab, select Limit to 1 Response.
Finally, click on Save to preserve the changes. From now on, each account will be limited to providing feedback only once.
Method 2: Manually Restrict Feedback in Google Forms
In addition to the above method, you can also manually restrict feedback in Google Forms.
To do this, open the Google Forms survey in any browser, then click on the Responses tab to view the responses.
In the Responses tab, click to turn off the slider next to the Accepting Responses option.
Additionally, if desired, you can add a custom message in the Message For Respondents box to inform users that the form has expired.
The added message will be automatically saved. When users attempt to answer the questions in your form, a notification will appear on the screen indicating that they cannot fill out or submit the form.
Method 3: Automatically Limit Feedback in Google Forms
Google Forms does not support the feature of automatically limiting responses based on the number of submissions or pre-set expiration dates. To achieve this, we need to install a third-party browser extension called formLimiter.
To install the formLimiter extension, first open your Google Forms on the web browser, then click on the three-dot icon located in the top right corner of the screen.
On the menu displayed on the screen, find and click on Add-Ons.
In the Google Workspace Marketplace menu, a list of available apps for installation will be shown. Your task is to enter formLimiter into the search bar at the top to find and install the extension. Alternatively, you can scroll through the list to find and manually install the extension.
Next, click on the settings button next to formLimiter to install the extension.
formLimiter will request permission to install the add-on; click Continue to accept and proceed with the installation.
On the next window, a list of permissions that formLimiter is requesting access to will be displayed. Click Allow to grant the extension access to your Google account.
Now, you can access formLimiter by clicking on the add-on icon on the Google Forms page. From the menu displayed on the screen, click on formLimiter.
On the menu displayed on the screen, find and click on the Set Limit option.
Now, at the bottom-right corner, the Limit Type menu will appear. Here, you can set limits, restricting feedback in Google Forms based on the number of responses or by date and time.
II. Limiting Feedback in Google Forms by Number of Responses
To limit feedback in Google Forms by the number of responses, from the menu, find and select the option Number Of Form Responses. Then, enter the maximum number of responses in the box below.
Next, in the Message when submissions are closed box, you can add custom messages and check the box next to Email form owner when submissions are closed to send an email to the owner when the form is closed.
Finally, click on Save And Enable to save your changes.
III. Limiting Feedback in Google Forms by Date and Time
To stop receiving feedback in Google Forms after a specific time, from the Limit Type menu, choose the Date And Time option. Then, set the date and time to close the Google Forms in the provided boxes.
Your task in this step is to make changes to the form closure notification by entering a custom message in the Message when submissions are closed box.
Furthermore, if you are the owner and wish to receive an email when the form is closed, simply check the box next to the Email form owner when submissions are closed option.
Finally, click on Save And Enable to add the closing date and time to your Google Forms.
