Overall, Sweden and Iceland witnessed an upward trend in the use of renewable energy sources in the three examined years. It can also be seen that among the four countries, this type of energy was most popular in Iceland.
In 1997, about half of Iceland's total energy came from renewable sources. This percentage rose steadily to 60% in 2000 and surpassed 70% in 2010. In contrast, in 1997, Sweden derived only about 5% of its total energy from natural resources, experiencing a similar trend to Iceland in renewable energy proportions.
As for Australia, renewable resources accounted for nearly 10% of energy production in 1997, decreasing slightly to about 5% by 2010. After reaching just over 40% in 2000, the proportion of renewable energy declined to around 33% a decade later.
