IELTS Speaking Part 2 Mô tả một người già bạn biết và tôn trọng
An elderly person has many positive traits, such as wisdom, patience, etc., that help them live a pleasant life. We learned lessons from their challenges in life that we couldn’t have learned from our mothers, teachers, or friends. They can, however, occasionally be so stubborn that we are unable to appease them. Like every person, I am aware of an elderly person I respect.
I’ve known her since before I was even born; she’s my grandmother. Recently, she passed away, which shocked us all. She had served as our home’s king, queen, and everything. She served as our mentor or source of strength. Since she had a friendly disposition, everyone sought her out for both money and emotional support. She was also the oldest member of our family and was knowledgeable about how to live a happy, healthy life. I frequently phoned her for help as a granddaughter. She encouraged me while also correcting me for my mistakes. She was adept at putting you in the spotlight and making you humble when needed.
She wasn’t powerful physically, but she was strong mentally. She had the incredible fortitude to take on any task that came her way. When they were stressed, she kept them motivated. Since the beginning, she had been our family’s rock and had always kept us safe. Her loss cannot be replaced.
She has my respect for many reasons, chief among them being her self-assurance. She never gave up, despite how challenging life was. She spoke out on behalf of her loved ones and herself. She consistently presented herself as a fearless, independent lady. After my grandfather passed away, she assumed full responsibility for the family. She was able to handle the pressures of the family while guiding her sons and daughters in the proper direction.

1. Đặc tính nào mà một người cần có để chăm sóc người già?
That is a challenging subject because different elderly have different needs from caregivers. However, I believe that patience and attentiveness are qualities that the majority of those who provide care for the elderly have. First, it’s crucial that the person providing care for the elderly be patient enough to establish a welcoming and secure environment for them.
Older persons may find it difficult to complete daily duties or require certain communication methods. Senior carers may also have to deal with elderly clients who have cognitive issues like Alzheimer’s or dementia or who may be unwilling to admit their need for others. Because of this, caregivers must constantly pay attention to the requirements of the elderly and offer support as needed.
- Attentiveness (n): sự chu đáo
- A welcoming and secure environment (n): một môi trường thân thiện và an toàn
- Cognitive issues (n): vấn đề nhận thức
- Dementia (n): mất trí nhớ
2. Do you think it's important for elderly people to be cared for at home?
I believe it largely depends. However, a large number of elderly people want to remain in their own houses. Because they may feel attached to their home and don’t want to leave the memories and history there, they may decide to do this instead of relocating to a retirement community or assisted living facility.
They could also not want to cede their freedom or be around people much younger than themselves. In these situations, it’s critical to have a caregiver who can visit them frequently and offer any assistance that may be required, such cooking, cleaning, and bathing.
- Attached to (adj): gắn kết với
- Code sb’s freedom: nhường lại sự tự do
3. How can neighbors help the elderly during a pandemic?
The most vulnerable populations during an outbreak are children and the elderly. It is simple to tackle the situation if a community is helpful. A neighborhood community is supportive if everyone works together when there is an emergency response unit and if everyone keeps up a good communication system to get in touch with the regional and local authorities; additionally, they must take care of the elderly.
- Outbreak (n): sự bùng phát

4. Do you observe such assistance in your neighborhood?
Yes. The community is strong in my neighborhood, and people come for fast assistance. They raised money and assisted the underprivileged during the Covid-19 pandemic. Some locals provided food and water for the street dogs. I’m fortunate to live in a good neighborhood because of this.
- The underprivileged (n): những người thiệt thòi, gặp nhiều khó khăn
5. Do you believe adolescents should contribute to building a community for the elderly?
Yes. Teenagers should actively engage in building a community for the elderly because they are the most involved yet distracted generation in this digital age. They should provide necessities, participate in crowdfunding, secure pending pensions, among other initiatives. This will foster empathy in them over time.- Crowdfunding: huy động vốn từ cộng đồng
- Secure pending pensions: lương hưu đang chờ bảo đảm
