The feature to create PowerPoint presentations from Word documents on the web is located in the Transform section of the File menu and can be used on documents containing text. Currently, the feature is limited to text and cannot leverage content within images or other embedded content.
This tool can generate PowerPoint presentations with multiple slides based on summarized text in the document, allowing users to enhance their presentations with relevant images, themes, icons, and videos.
To use this feature, you click File > Transform and select Transform to PowerPoint presentation
The company based in Redmond stated that this feature currently only supports English and does not work on web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Safari. Additionally, because it only supports text-based documents, Microsoft advises users to manually add desired media content if the automatically generated content is not sufficient.
This new feature will not only assist students in creating presentations but also support anyone looking to quickly summarize large Word documents without having to read through the entire text and filter key points. The ability to convert text files into PowerPoint presentations is currently available in Microsoft Word Online first, and there is currently no information on whether it will come to PC and mobile versions.
