Model Answer (Sample Answer)
It occurred two years ago. If my memory serves me correctly, I was a second-year student at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. My friends invited me to join them in the expat community neighborhood in Hanoi to celebrate what is known as Halloween. To be honest, I wasn't very familiar with Western culture and festivals, but I agreed to go along to please them.
As per the Halloween tradition, we dressed up in costumes and makeup resembling characters from movies or horror novels. Being a fan of DC comics, I dressed up as The Flash, the fastest man alive, while my friends dressed up as Thanos and John Wick, the infamous hitman from the movies.
At that time, my friends and I were already too old for trick-or-treating, so we strolled around the neighborhood trying to scare the younger children, which I found a bit immature. But I suppose there was nothing better to do. Suddenly, there was a power outage. I initially thought it was part of the event's setup, but it turned out to be real. When the lights came back on, a girl appeared seemingly out of nowhere, riding a broomstick and holding a magic wand. She was more enchanting than Hermione from the Harry Potter series. We struck up a conversation, and she has been one of my closest friends ever since.
And that was the last time I celebrated Halloween. I think I'm too old for it now. However, if it hadn't been for that event, I wouldn't have made another close friend of mine. So, I'm grateful for it.
