Sparassidae (trước đây gọi là Heteropodidae) là một họ nhện đặc trưng. Trong tiếng Anh, chúng được gọi là Huntsman spiders (nhện thợ săn) nhờ vào tốc độ và kỹ năng săn mồi của chúng. Những nhện này cũng được biết đến với tên gọi giant crab spiders (nhện cua khổng lồ) do kích thước và hình dáng của chúng. Các cá thể lớn hơn thường được gọi là nhện gỗ vì chúng thích sống trong môi trường có gỗ hoặc nhện đồng hồ. Ở Nam Phi, chúng còn được biết đến với các tên nhện mưa và nhện ăn thằn lằn.
