Gumayusi appears to have regained the essential confidence after aiding T1 in defeating BLG at Worlds 2023.
In T1's triumph against Bilibili Gaming in the Worlds 2023 Swiss stage, Gumayusi undoubtedly emerges as the standout player. T1's ADC didn't falter in both games, even against opponents wielding potent AD champions like Kai'Sa or Xayah. Particularly in the second game, using his signature Jinx, Gumayusi can be said to have 'obliterated the opponents.'
This victory can be seen as helping Gumayusi shake off the psychological burden from the defeat against Gen.G in the LCK Summer 2023 finals. In that match, Gumayusi gave his all. However, due to one unfortunate situation, he became the target of criticism from some extreme fans. Despite most recognizing Gumayusi's effort, especially in Faker's absence, the criticism toward the 'Prince' did not subside.
But with the triumph over BLG, coupled with the MVP title, Gumayusi is exuding immense confidence. In the post-match interview, when asked about the evaluation of T1's bot lane (Gumayusi and Keria) compared to other bot lanes at Worlds, he confidently stated: 'Of course, I think we are the best bot lane at Worlds 2023. There are many other bot lanes I want to face, but I also want to defeat them all.'
During the era of Gumayusi-Keria with T1 creating an unprecedented undefeated record in LoL history, this is the confidence that the 2002-born ADC used to exude. In reality, the LoL audience, especially T1 fans, always wanted to see Gumayusi's self-assuredness again. Although he is more composed now, Gumayusi's 'swagger' makes T1 fans feel reassured and believe that their team can defeat any opponent.
Facing T1 are still formidable names ahead, such as JD Gaming, Gen.G, and LNG Esports. However, undoubtedly, when T1 regains confidence, free from the pressure to win at all costs, they truly become the most formidable and unpredictable force that every opponent must be wary of.
