Tổng quan về phần nghe TOEIC 2
Ví dụ, thí sinh sẽ nghe băng đọc: Can you check to see when the train is coming? cùng với 3 đáp án

Thí sinh sẽ cần chọn đáp án A là đáp án phù hợp nhất để trả lời cho câu hỏi
Phần này được cho là phần tương đối phức tạp do có nhiều phương án gây nhiễu và đa dạng các loại câu hỏi. Câu hỏi và câu trả lời không có trong đề, thời gian nghỉ giữa các câu cũng khá ngắn có thể gây căng thẳng cho thí sinh. Tuy nhiên, việc nắm chắc được các dạng câu hỏi thường xuất hiện trong đề và phương pháp loại trừ phương án sai sẽ giúp thí sinh tự tin hơn khi làm bài

Dạng câu yêu cầu và xin phép trong TOEIC Part 2 thường bắt đầu bằng Would/could/may, dùng để cầu khiến, hỏi sự giúp đỡ, hoặc yêu cầu người khác làm gì hoặc xin phép để được cho phép làm một điều gì đó. Đáp án cho loại câu trả lời này thường bày tỏ sự đồng ý, không đồng ý hoặc câu trả lời gián tiếp cho vấn đề

Information questions
Dạng câu hỏi chứa các từ để hỏi như How (thế nào), When (khi nào), Where (ở đâu), Which (cái nào), What (cái gì) dùng để hỏi về thông tin chi tiết. Thí sinh cần nghe được chính xác loại câu hỏi và chọn phương án cung cấp hoặc trả lời được thông tin đang được đề cập.
Ví dụ:

Negative questions
Dạng câu hỏi có trợ trừ phủ định hoặc động từ khuyết thiếu dạng phủ đinh đứng đầu câu được dùng khi người nói muốn yêu cầu xác nhận điều gì đó là đúng hoặc để đưa ra các yêu cầu, lời mời hoặc phàn nàn…
Ví dụ:
Isn’t that apartment we looked at last week still available?
Why won’t my computer turn on?
Wasn’t the trainer supposed to be here at nine AM?...

Questions with 'not' (Yes/No questions)
Dạng câu hỏi bắt đầu bằng trợ từ và yêu cầu câu trả lời cung cấp được thông tin có hoặc không (yes/no). Tuy nhiên trong đề thi TOEIC part 2, thí sinh có thể bắt gặp các đáp án đúng không chứa yes/no (câu trả lời gián tiếp hoặc câu trả lời cung cấp thông tin nhưng không dùng yes/no).
Ví dụ:
Will you be at the holiday party next week?
Do you need some more application forms?
Did you make enough copies for the meeting agenda?

Tag questions
Dạng câu hỏi có chứa các cụm từ ngắn như isn’t it, don’t you, has she,...đứng ở cuối câu dùng để kiểm tra thông tin hoặc xem người nghe có đồng tình với người nói hay không. Việc dùng câu hỏi đuôi thực chất là một câu hỏi nghi vấn thông thường dạng khẳng định.
Ví dụ:
It is hot, isn’t it? = Is it hot?
Answer: Yes, it’s so hot in here/ No, I don’t think so.
She doesn’t know how to type, does she? = Does she know how to type?
Answer: Yes, she does (disagree- she knows how to type) / No, she doesn’t (agree- she doesn’t know how to type)
Alternative questions
Dạng câu hỏi chứa các sự lựa chọn cách nhau bởi dấu phẩy (ngắt giọng) hoặc từ “OR” (hoặc) dùng để hỏi về sự lựa chọn của người nghe.
Ví dụ:
Would you like to see the doctor on Monday or Tuesday?
Will the musicians be set up by five o’clock, or are they arriving late?
Would you like a table by the window or the buffer area?

Complex questions
Dạng câu hỏi nằm trong một câu hỏi/câu khác. Câu hỏi phức khá khác so với các loại câu hỏi thông thường do không có trợ trừ hoặc không có dấu hỏi chấm nếu nằm trong một câu trần thuật.
Ví dụ:
When will we know if the project received funding?
Are you sure we’ll be able to meet this deadline?
Can you check to see when the train is coming?
