A time that I decided to wait for something was during a lesson that my parents taught my brother and I during our childhoods. I have come to find out that this is a pretty widespread strategy for teaching this, but I was unaware of that at the time.
Our parents offered us a deal, we could have 100,000VND right now, or we could wait for one year and receive 1 million VND. My brother instantly jumped at the 100k and wanted it right away. It absolutely is, but with limits. Patience is an important skill to foster, because many things in life cannot come right away. For example, if I were to be working a job and the boss said I need to wait one day to receive my pay, I would not be happy about that but understanding, I can be patient. However, if it were to go on for a longer period of time then it is important that we stand up for ourselves.
