Guide to Fixing USB 'Removable Disk' Error
'Removable Disk' refers to a portable drive. Previously, when we purchased a new USB, its label was 'Removable Disk'. However, if the USB label unexpectedly changes to 'Removable Disk', caution is necessary. It could indicate potential USB damage or a virus infection creating a folder named autorun.inf. When infected, the USB behaves differently; upon double-clicking, a menu with options like Explorer, Open, Extract, etc., appears.
With antivirus software such as AVG, Kaspersky, Norton, BKAV, most can eliminate USB autorun viruses. Therefore, downloading and scanning with antivirus programs on both the computer and USB is advisable.

Unable to read the USB? You need to reformat it by right-clicking on the USB and selecting Format.

If the USB is unformattable, download the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool tool from here:
Right-click on the HPUSBDisk.exe file and choose Run as administrator.
In this step, choose the formatting type under File system: FAT32, NTFS.
- Enter the USB label at Volume label.
- Select Quick Format, then click Start to initiate USB formatting.
In this step, choose Yes to proceed.
In this step, select OK to conclude the Format process.
After completing the Format, re-access the USB. If errors occur during the formatting process or the USB remains unusable post-Format, it indicates damage.
