This guide will instruct you on resetting Zenfone to its factory settings when encountering configuration errors, helping your device return to normal. It's applicable to all 3 Zenfone models: 4, 5, 6.

Method 1:
The simplest way using the device's software is to go to Settings => select Backup & Reset => Choose Factory Reset

Method 2:
Restore via Hard Keys: Power button + volume up button. In this mode, you have 2 options: either select Factory Reset or choose Wipe data mode (delete all data before restoration).
Make sure to plug in the power and ensure the phone has sufficient battery capacity.

Factory Reset: Press and hold the Power button + Volume up button (+) until the image of the Robot appears, then release both buttons. When the English text menu appears, use the volume down button to move to Factory Reset and use the PW button to select. Now the device will restart in a few minutes and return to its initial setup mode.

- Select the Wipe Data Factory Reset mode, remember to plug in the charger while performing this operation. This method will be the solution when your Zenfone 4, 5, 6 is infected with a virus that other methods or virus removal software no longer work. The completion time of this method is also longer than the previous ones, so be patient, do not remove the battery or disconnect the charger while the device is in Recovery mode.
- First, turn off the device and wait for it to shut down completely, then press and hold the Power + Volume buttons for a few seconds (usually about 3-5 seconds) until an English text menu appears.
- Next, use the volume down button to move to the Recovery line and use the PW button to select it, then a green Robot image will appear. At this point, you need to press the combination of both volume buttons several times until a Menu appears,
- Use the volume down button to move to the Wipe data factory reset line => use PW to select => use the VL button to move down to the Yes/ Delete all use data line => when the device returns to the initial screen, select the Reboot System now line. When you have completed this step, the device will start displaying the message 'Deleting' on the phone, so keep it as it is until it's done.
