Seriously, why do we have to struggle like this, going out to buy fruit but always worried about chemicals, Chinese goods overflowing. Try this method for more peace of mind:
There's a harsh truth: ask yourself, is there any type of fruit that isn't sprayed with pesticides, soaked in chemicals? That's why we should learn how to remove chemical residues from fruits and vegetables before eating. Instead of the usual rinsing with water, try this new method:
1. Method to remove chemical residues from fruits and vegetables with low pesticide residues, such as: lychee, pineapple, mango, avocado, kiwi, watermelon, corn,...
Method 1: This method can significantly reduce the amount of pesticides:
- Mix water and vinegar in a ratio of 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar.
- Soak vegetables and fruits in the diluted vinegar water mixture for about 10-20 minutes, then rinse with clean water. Or you can pour this diluted vinegar water mixture into a spray bottle and spray it on fruits and vegetables. Leave the mixture on fruits and vegetables for about 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with water.
Method 2: You can also soak fruits and vegetables in the following mixtures, which also help eliminate pesticides and plant protection chemicals effectively:
- Mixture 1: mix 1 tablespoon lemon juice + 2 teaspoons baking soda + 1 cup water (adjust the ratios based on the amount of fruits and vegetables to be soaked).
- Mixture 2: mix 1 tablespoon lemon juice + 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar + 1 cup water (adjust the ratios based on the amount of fruits and vegetables).
- Note when using the above mixtures, soak fruits and vegetables for about 10 - 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with boiled and cooled water.

2. Method to remove chemical residues from fruits and vegetables with very high pesticide levels, such as: peaches, strawberries, apples, grapes, pears,...
For these types of fruits, even diluted vinegar mixtures can hardly clean them because they are among the most heavily sprayed plants sold in abundance outside the market. Moreover, we often eat their skins so it's better to be cautious.
Prepare a fruit washing mixture as follows:
- 1 cup water + 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar or white vinegar (about 150ml) + 1 tablespoon baking soda + a few drops of grapefruit seed oil (available online). Then, soak fruits and vegetables in this mixture for about 1 hour.
- Then, rinse thoroughly with water before eating.
