If we consider a regulation that could help protect the environment, my choice would be a law that provides financial support to nuclear power plants. Specifically, the government would offer financial assistance to companies involved in building and maintaining nuclear reactors.
You might wonder how this contributes to environmental protection, but this is one of the most practical options available amidst numerous idealistic proposals that lack practicality.
If implemented, this law would likely encourage the construction of nuclear power plants. When these reactors are operational, the country would have an alternative to coal-based electricity production.
Coal currently dominates global electricity production, despite its highly polluting nature and detrimental impact on the environment. While solar and wind energy are promising, they are not yet efficient or rapidly developed enough to fully replace coal.
We must rely on existing technologies, and nuclear power fits the criteria as a clean and cost-effective energy source. Transitioning to nuclear energy could phase out coal-based electricity generation and mitigate the environmental damage caused by coal mining. This is why I believe such legislation is crucial.
