Actually, not only real flowers, but paper flowers are also widely favored and chosen by many to decorate their homes on the occasion of Tet. Last time I shared with moms how to make real money trees, now it's time for paper flowers. Whether for sale or Tet decoration, they're beautiful and cost-effective too.

Making flowers with crepe paper is a popular method among moms. From crepe paper, you can make many different types of flowers like roses, orchids, apricot blossoms, irises, tulips, pomelos, daisies, zinnias, peony, or magnolias... Today, I'll share with moms how to make 2 types of crepe paper flowers that I often do:
1. How to make crepe paper roses:

+ Ingredients:
- Crepe paper in preferred colors. Moms can purchase materials at handmade craft stores or large stationery shops.
- Small wire, paper-cutting scissors, thread, glue
+ Steps to follow:
Step 1: Cut crepe paper horizontally with dimensions 8 x 50cm, you can adjust the length shorter or longer depending on the size of the flower you want.

Step 2: Fold diagonally about 1 to 1.5cm at the edge and then bend, twist on the paper edge. Fold and twist every 2cm continuously along the length of the paper.

At the end, twist round and fold inward to finish.

Step 3: From the excess paper section, start rolling into a flower shape, adjusting as you roll to make the flower look nicer.
Use thread to tie neatly and adjust the flower petals.

Step 4: Making flower stems: Use the prepared small wire part to insert directly into the flower stem.
Cut a piece of green crepe paper sized 8x8cm to make the flower base. Fold it into 4 and then cut one end sharp. Use glue to spread on one side of the paper and attach it to the completed flower.
Use green ribbon to cover the attached flower stem.

2. How to make crepe paper orchids:

+ Ingredients:
- Crepe paper in various colors
- Glue, wax tape
- Thread, large-sized crepe paper and small stem wire, cotton balls
- Beeswax, hot glue gun
- Scissors, pliers.
+ How to make:
To make crepe paper orchids, moms can print orchid petal templates online or draw their own templates for paper cutting.
Step 1: Making large orchid petals:
Cut a piece of wide-colored paper about 7-8cm wide. Apply glue and fold the paper in half. Continue folding the paper widthwise and cut it up to 6cm high.
Since each flower has 2 large petals, cut 2 large petals of the orchid according to the template, moms.

Step 2: Making small orchid petals:
Use colored crepe paper to cut the small petals of the orchid. The small petals have long stems, and the tips are slightly pointed according to the drawing. Each paper orchid needs 3 small petals.

Step 3: Making pink orchid pistils.
Make the pistil according to the pattern in the picture, then cut the pistil in half along its length.

Use pliers to cut a 6-7cm long piece of wire and glue the pistil you just cut into it with glue. Glue so that the two halves of the pistil slightly overlap, covering the wire part.
Step 4: Making white pistils
Cut a 6-7cm long piece of wire, bend the end. Round a little cotton to cover the bent part of the wire. Then cover the stretched white crepe paper over the top and tie it with thread.

Step 5: Assemble the flower petals
Assemble the pink pistil by bending the stem wire downwards, slightly curve the main petal upwards, and roll the sides inward. Place the white pistil in the middle between the two pink petals and secure it. Do the same with the flower petals, tie two large petals opposite each other, and tie three small petals on the outside. Be careful not to expose the thread.

Step 6: Making leaves and buds
Make leaves using green crepe paper, cut about 10-12cm wide. Apply glue then fold the width of the paper, fold and cut large or small leaf shapes as desired.
Make buds similar to making white pistils then wrap with wax tape.
After these steps, assemble the flowers and buds onto the large stem, then attach the leaves at the base and place them in a pot.

3. Cost of making flowers and selling price:
Crepe paper costs about 20k/roll and can make about 10 to 20 roses. Tape, wire about 15k. In terms of time, it depends on the type of flower and quantity, on average, I spend about 2-3 hours.
The materials for making handmade paper flowers are quite easy to find, moms can buy them at many different places.
+In Hanoi: Crepe paper, ribbons, glue... and other handmade materials can be purchased at some stores and in areas such as Hang Bo, Hang Ma, Hang Hom...
+Ho Chi Minh City: Stores like Ngan Thong, Lena Faustina, Shop Reddragonfly...
Moms can also customize according to customers' requests. A basket of roses ranges from about 100-200k, depending on whether customers want a large or small arrangement, moms can adjust the price accordingly.
4. Some effective tips for selling paper flowers for moms to consider:
- Moms can make these for decoration purposes, but if they want to sell them profitably, they need to be skilled and adept at arranging various types of flowers, decorating to create innovative and unique products. With popular paper flower designs like roses, lilies, tulips, orchids... moms can create diverse styles and arrangements in plastic vases, bamboo baskets... Actually, practice makes perfect, at first, my creations were quite ugly, but I learned and improved by experimenting and following online tutorials. For moms who lack time, they can learn online like I did, or those who enjoy it can join flower arranging classes, which are really fun.
- Moms can sell flowers on social media platforms like Facebook, posting ready-made designs for customers to browse and order their preferred flower arrangements. Additionally, to save time and effort, moms should have flowers ready so that when customers place orders, they can make adjustments and deliver promptly.
Hoping that these insights can be helpful to moms in some way!
