At first, let's address the purpose of creating this article. I was surprised when attempting to capture portraits on the Pixel 6 Pro, as the photos exhibited several unpleasing aspects, deviating from the expected camera quality.
Without delving into color issues, what perplexed me was how Pixel processed facial skin in this mode. Every detail appeared excessively enhanced, giving the skin an unnatural, somewhat glaring look. Skin details seemed overdone, and upon closer inspection, various skin features appeared artificial.
While the overall impression on the phone might convey a sharper, more impressive image, scrutinizing it closely reveals its lack of beauty. Zooming in, you'll notice many differences, such as pimples, scars, and enlarged pores being exposed, diminishing the overall appeal of the facial skin.
Similarly, under indoor shooting conditions, the photos appear stiff, and in the admin's case, the skin is even made to look darker and uneven, losing its natural appearance.
Without delving into the quality of background separation or blurring, how Pixel 6 Pro handles facial skin doesn't seem satisfactory.

Notably, when using the regular camera without portrait mode, the photos look normal. In fact, I even find Pixel slightly better than iPhone.

The admin's facial skin also looks better, relatively smooth, with fewer blemishes compared to portrait mode.

I still don't understand why Pixel processes facial skin in portrait mode like that. Many say it's due to the influence of the Android operating system, but there's still no accurate information. What's the reason? Let's discuss in the comments below!
