For seasoned Arena of Valor players, the hybrid Chaugnar build might ring a bell, as it gained popularity upon release. Despite meta shifts towards full Tank builds, this strategy remains intriguing, especially if your team boasts resilient heroes who favor engaging battles.

Chaugnar's hybrid approach balances defense and magic, aiming for durability and impactful damage output. With abilities scaled on magic power and skill-spamming potential, items with magic effects, cooldown reduction, and added maximum health are reasonable choices. Let's analyze the equipment, playstyle, and key considerations for this build.

Runes

• 10 Red Runes III Magic Pierce/Magic Defense Pierce
• 10 Purple Runes III Max HP/HP Regen
• 10 Green Runes III Magic Power Reduction

This well-rounded rune setup complements Chaugnar's hybrid build. High magic power with skill regeneration optimizes damage output and skill-spamming. Additional maximum health and movement speed enhance durability, allowing Chaugnar to navigate battles more effectively.

Lastly, to enhance Chaugnar's crowd control capabilities, Faint is indispensable.

Enchantments

• Secondary Path (Glowing Tower): Satisfaction - Pierce Soul

Regarding the enchantments for this guide, we'll leverage Chaugnar's Tank nature to opt for a primary enchantment path with strong damage resistance capabilities. The secondary branch of this build will provide significant skill-spamming ability and a level-based magic penetration, boosting this hero's confidence in his engaging maneuvers.

Equipment

Although in the early seasons of Arena of Valor, this item build was highly favored. However, after many years and various changes, this guide might seem unfamiliar to newcomers. Therefore, I recommend using this gear setup for the Dark Slayer Lane instead of support:

Berith's Agony and Arctic Orb significantly enhance skill spamming, adding effects to Chaugnar's abilities. Frosty's Revenge provides a substantial boost to armor when facing multiple magic-wielding opponents. Astral Spear, post-adjustments, becomes a fitting choice for Chaugnar, enhancing continuous skill spamming and easier activation of the magic penetration passive. The final item, Amulet of Longevity, a common pick for Tank heroes, substantially increases Chaugnar's resilience with a large virtual health value. 

Evaluation

Chaugnar is a hero with potent crowd control abilities, incredibly robust if able to consistently spam his second skill. This stands as Chaugnar's most crucial innate ability, activating his damage immunity.

As mentioned earlier, Chaugnar's magical hybrid build once dominated the ranks in Vietnam, showcasing its effectiveness. Thus, even though this guide may seem unconventional, it undoubtedly proves efficient when played within a team featuring strong early-game heroes, ready to engage alongside the Elephant to assert lane dominance.

Delving into the specifics of this item build, it significantly boosts Chaugnar's cooldown reduction and magical damage output, augmenting his damage resistance through continuous activation of his innate ability. However, this comes at the expense of diminished overall durability compared to a full tank playstyle. This alteration significantly affects movement and playstyle, requiring players to exercise caution in engagements to avoid quick elimination.

Currently, Chaugnar is no longer as overpowering as during his initial release. I recommend refraining from using this build in ranked matches and opting for casual games, especially when facing opponents with heavy crowd control and a lack of a resilient top-lane position in your team.
